Intel Challenger K1 1 person kayak

For what this is, it CANNOT be beat! This is for the people who want to do paddle sports but cannot lift a heavy canoe on top of car to transport, who want to hike into a nice lake/slow river (I was able to pack it into my 75L pack with the pump, paddle, towels, book, food/drink and had room to spare. Sure, with all that it is heavy, but for hiking a mile or two, it was fine, just make sure your pack fits/sits correctly on your hips.), who don’t have balance or strength to stand up the whole time, and who are not into rushing waters and rapids. The only downside I can come up with (& it’s not even that bad) is some may have trouble getting in/out of it, don’t let that deter you! It is easy to paddle/maneuver, and did well even in somewhat choppy water due to wind. I even took it through marsh land, over exposed trees/branches, some with sharp points, and over rocks and was not worried about getting it punctured; feels like good thick material. If you’re worried you may be too big to fit in it, don’t be. I’m a 5’5” 190lb female with 40” hips in relatively good shape and I fit just fine in it with room to go and move around. You can either sit with your feet/legs inside or easily dangle them on top/in the water without discomfort. Once I was in the middle of the lake, I was able to scoot my backside down so I was reclining like I was in my zero gravity lounger, took my book out and spent about an hour reading and watching the hawks dive for fish while I floated wherever the wind/drift took me without worrying about instability or falling in; I cannot remember a more relaxing time in the past few years. There is a mesh area in the front where you can put your pack and other things, more room behind you on top to strap things down and you could even put things inside at your feet and behind the seat cushion. I’m even thinking about getting some type of closed in river tube to load all my overnight camping items, tie it to the back and tow it behind me to the other side of some lakes because that’s where it’s always the most peaceful because the loud yahoo’s can’t drive there and with alpine lakes a lot of times there aren’t trails all the way around so the only way to those prime spots is over water. In conclusion, for what this is, what guidelines it is designed for, what it’s made of......YOU CANNOT DO BETTER!!!! Especially if you’re able to find it at the price I did ($55). Although, I wouldn’t pay over $100 for it. At that point I’d start to look at the next class up and pay a little more. But, by that point, I’d say you should be into white water. For those of us who aren’t....GET THIS!!!!!Lire l'avis complet...

good little kayak

i've been wanting a kayak for a while, finally bought this one a couple of weeks ago. reviews say it's small, and it is. i'm 5'6", my knees had to stay bend the entire trip which was not perfect, though not horrible either. but anyone with longer legs than mine would definitely not be happy. the seat back also didn't give much support, so just be ready to use your core muscles. it was easy to pump up with the hand pump it comes with. i felt sturdy in the kayak, it moved smoothly through the water. hopefully i won't have problems with leaks but if i do, there is a little kit that will hopefully patch things up. and everything comes in a handy zip-up bag for storage, that's a nice perk. overall i'm satisfied with this purchase, just with there was a little more leg room.Lire l'avis complet...

Lightweight, Easily tranportable, quick setup great value!

The kayak is easy to set up and good quality as far as I can tell as of now. I got it all blown and put together within 30 minutes and off I went. I ended up deflating the seat bottom cushion quite a bit as I felt I was riding a bit high for my liking. Easily maneuvered into and out of the water because it is relatively light weight. A couple of my neighbors and their friends saw me out in it and they have regular kayaks and are going to get one of these due to the ease of use and not having to carry it on a rack in the car etc. Lire l'avis complet...

Easy to inflate and very durable!

I weigh 170 lbs and it works great for me. I've taken it to multiple lakes and reservoirs, and it handles wakes from boats pretty well whether you're sideways or take them straight on. I've also taken it down a shallow river and it was great there too. The river was anywhere from 6" to 48" deep, and I knew this beforehand so I removed the fin from the bottom of the kayak so it wouldn't drag and get damaged. Even without the fin the kayak is very nimble and easy to navigate. I dragged on the rocks a few times and there is no damage. Overall I'm very pleased!

Minor annoyances: the paddle is a bit short and the buttons which allow you to take it apart are very stiff. It's a bit tricky to get water out of the seat area when you're trying to dry it off and put it away.

Great kayak!

Fabulous for any beginner as it is very stable and easy to handle. The paddle is fabulous, feels luke it should be more expensive. The kayak is quick to inflate, though I recommend you do not inflate the bottom of the seat (you'd be quite high up). It's much heavier than you'd think but that just feels safer. I'm 5'4'' and do not use the foot rest. It folds up nicely and saves space too! I've always wanted a kayak, but have been unable to afford one. I'm s glad I ran into this one. I watched a lot of videos on it and it's the best thing I've done for myself this year. nothing like relaxing in the water! Don't forget to: 1. Get a life vest (most places won't let you in the water without it) 2. Have sunglasses and sunscreen and 3. have your phone in a ziplock bag so you can take pictures!Lire l'avis complet...

Fun and Good Buy

It's a fun kayak! If price, storage and transportation are an issue this may be the solution. Inflating it is easy but be sure to watch videos on the realities of deflating and repacking ... it's a bit of a pain.

This kayak is best suited to still lakes. and gentle rivers I would not want to find myself in strong winds.

One definate drawback is the paddle. It's cheap and I will be replacing it next year with one that is better quality.

This kayak gets me out on the water and that's really all I want so I definately give it a thumbs up!

Very impressed

I was in search of a kayak but couldn't spend a lot of money at the time plus had to get something easy to lug back and forth. I came across this Challenger K1 inflatable and did my research on it. Reviews were good so I went back and forth trying to decide because all my friends were doubting the inflatable and saying it will never hold up. Well it went on sale to a price I couldn't refuse so I bought it. The first time I took it out, I must admit I was a little nervous. It was very easy and fast to blow up with the pump, I must say it took longer to put the oar together then blowing everything up. Put it in the water and off I went kayaking with a couple of my sceptical friends! This kayak is not only easy to carry and put together but it did amazing in the water!! It was so comfortable and I felt very safe. By the time our 4 hour trip was done, ALL of my sceptical friends wanted my inflatable kayak! I had it out 5 or 6 times already and it's still going strong. I love this kayak!! So if you're considering buying it and not sure if it will meet your expectations, I say buy it!! It won't disappoint but I dont recommend doing any really rough rafting, not sure if it would handle all that. I love my Challenger K1 inflatable kayak!!Lire l'avis complet...

Great for beginners!! 😊

I love my new kayak! It is really durable. It comes with a repair kit should it spring a leak, though. I have taken it out about 6 times. I really like it. It is easy to maneuver. It is stable. The pump is not of great quality, but works just fine. The seat provides fairly good back support. It took me a couple of times to figure how much to inflate the seat and top section of the kayak so that I got good back support. The quality of the bag is fair, but I have been careful and the bag does the job. I did not use the paddle. Someone allowed me to try the paddle before buying this kayak. It is flimsier than I am used to, so I bought a better one (which I really like). I make sure that my kayak is completely dry before storing it. So far I have found that the best way to do this is to dry it out with towels when I get it out of the water. As water tends to collect in the bow and stern, as well as in the creases, I find it best to drape it over a couple of plastic patio chairs for a day or two. Then I go back and wipe out the inside with a towel. Then I pack it away. It comes with a care instructions, but they are a bit vague in some areas (like folding instructions so that you can fit it back in the bag properly). The main thing is not to over inflate it. If you do it could spring a leak. Read all the care instructions before putting air into your kayak. I also found the skeg to be pretty durable and have not had any issues with it falling off. In fact, it clicks so tightly into place that I don't foresee it falling off. This is definitely a kayak for those who are just getting into the sport. It is made for deep, flat water kayaking. I would not recommend taking it in whitewater as you could lose the skeg, or worse puncture the bottom on a rock or debris. The netting at the bow makes a great storage compartment. This is a raft-style kayak, so it will sit on top of the water. It is a really good buy and I highly recommend it.

I continue to use the kayak and still recommend it. It is great buy 👍🏻👍🏻

Very happy with purchase

This is a very good kayak for very specific uses, I use it for smaller inland lakes and calm rivers. I have not tried going over any rapids. DO NOT try to compare this with expensive or sophisticated kayaks - this is a very different kind of boat. Good for people 5'9" or shorter and 180lbs or less. Really no leg room underneath (sit cross legged or put your legs on top. BUT - Takes about 5 minutes to inflate. Will go into -very- shallow water. Packs down to a super small size. The vinyl is thick and almost like leather - I have no fear of punctures. Why did I buy this? I was tired of paying $45 / hour to rent a kayak. For just a few bucks more I OWN one that I can stick in the trunk and take ANYWHERE, and when I get home it can be stored in my closet. IF you have lots of storage space, lots of money, a big SUV, like going into big wave areas, etc, then you may be disappointed in this. If you are on a budget and tight on space, and content to paddle in calmer waters, then you will be very happy with this boat. BTW, I also have the two-person version, which will give you leg room and allow you to pack some camping or picnic gear.Lire l'avis complet...

Definitely worth the fun and portability

Fun kayak, decent quality with a sturdy bottom. I wouldn't take it in white water or over rocks since there is a plastic fin on the bottom, which slides into a glued-on rail. This could tear if the kayak sees abuse. Due to this fin, the kayak tracks very well. It takes about 5-10 minutes to inflate and set up. The weight limit is 220 pounds. It folds up to about the size of a trolley. It usually sells for $65, but I was charged over $100, since it is currently difficult to get due to Covid-19, which is a shame.Lire l'avis complet...
