Great movie with excellent acting, story line and plenty of action.

I love a little horror factor in a movie, but not a lot. This movie fits that bill. Great acting and story line. A lot of action, too. My kind of movie.

Will Smith made this movie into a modern classic

This sci-fi flick is about the earth being invaded by flying saucers but with many new twists. It's funny, thought provoking, patriotic, exciting and almost everything else you can think of. And - of course I totally believe a US Marine Corps Captain (Will Smith) instinctly knows how to fly a flying saucer! OK, not really but it did make the movie funny at the height of the drama. The movie was like that: the absurd being mixed with deadly serious and a touch of comedy. That's probably one of the reasons such a vast audience loved this film (including me). Highly recommended. This particular version of "Independence Day" is offered on a North American DVD format. As with all films, parents of school age children should probably watch it first to verify it's OK.
