Nothing Flat about In The Flat Field

Alot of Bauhaus' lyrics read like hauntingly clever and beautifully dark poetry. In The Flat Field contains many excellent Bauhaus songs. Probably one of my favorite songs off of here is Stigmata Martyr with it's "witchy" intent. It seems kind of sacreligous and you feel kind of evil for listening to it, but you just can't resist. As a side note this song is in one of the coolest horror flicks ever, Night of the Demons. Read the lyrics to In The Flat Field. This is the kind of poetry I was talking about earlier. There are very few similarities between Bauhaus and any other band and they are definitely an original. The sound is rich, scary, haunting, beautiful and the vocal styling is like nothing you've ever heard before. As another note, if you really notice what the band is saying, at times the songs lend themselves to cynical and sarcastic humor which just makes them that much better. Another one of my favorites is Double Dare. Crowds is kind of a bitter song about a bad relationship, but it is funny as well and sung from the perspective of a male. Many of the songs on In The Flat Field can be found on the best hits album called Crackle. However, you won't get the songs such as Stigmata Martyr or St. Vitus Dance which you shouldn't miss. There is also a version of the T Rex song Telegram Sam, which seems kind of out of place, but does add an interesting spin to the album. If you don't know Bauhaus, this would be a good place to start. If you do know Bauhaus, you probably already own it.Lire l'avis complet...
