A must for Dylan fans and lovers of ingenuity and just plain guts in film-making

Product was exactly as advertised. Played perfectly. BTW, the movie is amazing - a unique and creative approach to depicting Bob Dylan's many sides and musical styles. Cate Blanchett stuns as the younger Dylan, and Ben Wishaw and Christian Bale are terrific as alter egos. There are six in all. The soundtrack features some of Dylan's own songs, mixed with covers by such artists as Jim James and Calexico and John Doe and that guy from Pavement.Lire l'avis complet...

Always interesting to hear how the others sing Bob

This is a soundtrack, so it has to serve a few purposes. First of all, it has to accompany the film, and the choice is sometimes given by the footage.
Nevertheless, this new collection features a lot of very interesting things, starting from "Goin' to Acapulco" performed by Jim James, the title track by Sonic Youth, Cat Power does a great job with "Stuck Inside of Mobile" as well as Los Lobos (who previously performed in "Masked and Anonymous") with "Billy1", Charlotte Gainsbourg performing "Just Like a Woman" and many other interesting takes.
A lot of people say nobody plays and sings Dylan like Dylan, but sometimes very interesting readings of his songs are coming out from other artists, up to the point the man himself is influenced by those covers (think of Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower"). This time other interesting considerations will come out, and I'm pretty sure Dylan will represent some old favorites borrowing ideas from this record.
Very interesting for Dylan fans and for those who want to take a first approach to Dylan from a multicultural point of view.Lire l'avis complet...

Dylan Revisited

I recently had an opportunity to purchase this cd via EBAY prior to it's release in Central Florida. It was a very interesting experience to hear different artists,( many of the new ones were unknown to me ) internet Dylan's writing. Among the more outstanding cuts were Willie Nelson and Calexico who traded vocals in English and Spanish, which mirrored the theme of 'Senor'. An old friend, Ramblin'Jack Elliott, was no surprise in his version of 'Tom Thumb's Blues'-he remained true to his folk/blues roots. I would have liked to hear more of McGuinn's Rickenbacker on 'One More Cup of Coffee', but the overall arrangements Latin flavor was excellent. So here we are, listening to songs that shaped our youth, experiencing rebirth through another generation-I can't help but feel a little jaded. Perhaps when I see the actual movie things will fall into place. This remains a very interesting cd and I must recommend it for all Dylan fans-MF FosterLire l'avis complet...

I wasn't a big fan of Bob Dylan, admttedly, but I love this CD! The music is wonderful. I wanted to buy the CD after seeing the movie. I fell in love with a few of the songs from the movie, and I just had to get the soundtrack. This is an excellent CD.Lire l'avis complet...

I'm not there...........but the music is!

I am not a fan of Bob covers in most cases, this Cd package however is an exception. I found the movie rather disjointed unless you are a serious Bob person, but this CD flows with brilliance and enjoyment. Richie Havens is worth the price of admission alone, and add Bob himself singing the title song and you have an amazing 2 CD set. Really, do yourself a favor and buy it!Lire l'avis complet...

I like the CD. I liked the movie also. All of the covers are very interesting.
U will never be bored with this CD! Excellent portrayal of the beautiful lyrics that Dylan is famous for.

The music is great. I like all the other artists doing Bob Dylans music. Its a great cd to listen to around a campfire.
