Cute...mostly!

Funniest scenes were the jet-lag frazzled Colin Ware on the bus trip to Hope, especially with him on his back, with his legs straight up, as if in some sort of obstetrics position! I like to pause the scene, to laugh my head off over it.
Heather Graham's character was a bit juvenile-looking, compared to Colin Firth's beyond-grown man. Too, didn't care too much for her boozing, & being too free with someone she had only just met. Made one wonder if she harbored an STD. Sort of a fictionalized personna of a real life headline-making pop-tart.
She was just an immature, irresponsible girl, really.
Had to feel sorry for Minnie Driver's character. The note she left for Colin was only meant to light a fire under him, and nudge him into marriage, finally, after a too-long engagement. And, it really doesn't make sense that he had committment problems with Vera, but dove in to a quickie engagement with a much younger than himself "girl."
The Fishers were hilarious! And I've always adored Oliver Platt.
The Fall foliage was absolutely gorgeous, and a real treat, for those who have never had the opportunity to see it, in person, up in Yankeeville, U.S.A., or in Canada.
Bought this DVD to add to my growing collection of Colin Firth films. It is still entertaining enough to watch over & again.

Hope Springs Eternal may become a nationwide bottled beverage phenomena, or it may be derailed when the mayor finds love among the flim-flam.

I strongly recommend seeing Colin Firt's frustrated efforts to escape his British girlfriend and restart his life anew in "America." He has some gret regional guides and nosey neighbors cheering for him. It's a grand tale o artistic ambtions and whether or not knickers are really necessary.Lire l'avis complet...

Hope Springs Gives Hope and Spring Fever

Colin Firth is simply too charming to not adore this charming flick! I
can't believe it took me this long to find it. Tho the plot is a little
unrealistic and odd, the cast of characters is perfect and lends it all
believable anyhow. A perfect romantic comedy! Rented it, but I think
I'll hafta go ahead and buy it to add to the collection -- to put between
