An underrated game that is a great game in its own right, buy it!

I bought this game because I was looking to explore other first person shooter games other than Call of Duty games, and because this game seemed different than others available.

I've played through some of the game so far, and have to say that the game has lived up to my expectations so far:

In the near future (2025 ish) you are American rebels fighting against unified Korean forces occupying the US. As such, your weapons have limited ammo, so you are forced to conserve it, and the weapons are pretty much whatever you can find, and have many different attachments which makes for interesting gameplay.

Compared to other games in this genre ie: Call of Duty Black Ops, Battlefield 2, etc., here's my personal opinion:
1. At 720p, this game could look much better. As for the environments, your paths are a bit too pre-determined for my taste, but still play pretty well.
2. The guns are pretty cool, with a good mix of more "traditional" weapons like the SCAR or M16, mixed with invented future weapons you come across by taking enemy weapons.
3. As far as character development goes, it is pretty good, and on par with other games in this genre, if not a little better.
4. The controls I think are very intuitive, and have many similarities to Call of Duty controls, which leads to a fast grasp of controls.
5. As far as online play, I haven't tried it yet, but I look forward to very soon!

All things considered, this a good first person shooter with a slightly different concept, good weapons, good characters, and good gameplay. I would really recommend this game to those looking for a change from Call of Duty, or other major franchise games.

What Wasted Potential...

Homefront is a First-Person Shooter based in 2027 set in a Korean occupied United States. The game shows the great US of A under a Nazi-like oppression. You play as a former marine helicopter pilot who is recruited by the Resistance, a group of rag-tag fighters trying to free America, to fight the Korean oppresors. The games plot has an interesting premise, but fails to execute on more detailed events.
As far as gameplay goes, Homefront feels like a Call of Duty clone. It plays the same way and was obviously heavily influenced by the ground-breaking series. However, Homefront misses the mark in a lot of places where Call of Duty hits it. Certain things in missions, such as having to wait for all of your teamates to catch up to advance. This would normally not be bad, but it takes quite awhile for your teamates to catch up. The game does a good job of making you feel like an underdog however, giving you limited ammo and body armor. Also, the opportunity to talk to civilians and other soldiers is very unique and adds a great twist on the game. The game looks okay, however you will not be walking away awed by the presentation.
Ultimately, Homefront lives or dies by whether or not you connect with the citizens of occupied America, which I did not. I was scared by the initial thought of America being invaded but the horrors homefront presented never really hit me hard. Now before you call me a heartless, cold person, this is coming from someone who had difficulty playing the evil version on inFAMOUS because I felt too bad about the choices I was making. The voice acting is okay, however the characters are only alright, and not terrific. The multiplayer is your average shooter selection, level up, get guns, level up again. Once again, heavily influenced by Call of Duty.
For me, Homefront never hit home. The presentation was just okay, and, in my mind, the only truly original things the game has is its general story and the ability to talk to other characters to learn their backstory. Otherwise, the gameplay was lacking, and the game seemed to simply copy a lot of different games and throw them all together. For example, the gameplay plays like Call of Duty, and one character is very similar to Haggard in Bad Company, however not as funny or intriguing. This copying would have been somewhat okay, it is just Homefront never hits it on the nail. In my opinion Homefront is a pass for $59.99, but if you can get it for $29.99 it is a good pickup just for its story.

Great game,cheap price,amust have game.

The game has a pretty good story, but the graphic's are lagging compared to other First person shooters like Call Of Duty and Battlefield, kind of reminded me of Playstation 2 graphics, but the multiplayer is really fun, wished campaign was longer since its really short,Certain things in missions, such as having to wait for all of your teamates to catch up to advance. Pretty Fun, Multiplayer is fun, Campain is pretty short though.

The game has a pretty good story, but the graphic's are lagging compared to other First person shooters like Call Of Duty and Battlefield, kind of reminded me of Playstation 2 graphics, but the multiplayer is really fun, wished campaign was longer since its really short, I felt as if it was only 1/3 of the way of the game. But overall pretty okay shooter, THQ should've polished it a little more before releasing, hopefully the Sequel improves this potential GOOD franchise.Lire l'avis complet...

lives up to it's billing don't miss it

Homefront is a triumph and my nominee for game of the year. visually i was constantly in awe, cinematics kept the flow, and gameplay was challenging, engaging, the AI well plotted. imho Homefront is one of the best if not THE best FPS's out there. a MUST-SEE in terms of graphics, weaponry, it's all there, u even pilot a helicopter and hijack a convoy of fuel tankers enroute (which was NOT easy, u try flying one of those things while taking SAMS coming at u, the AI knows how u think and will surprise u again and again). and talk about the VR of the world around u, the environment is as realistic and completely interactive as can presently be, u fight against the NKorean army invaders in a variety of scenarios like shopping malls and baseball fields culminating in an all out counter-offensive assault on the golden gate bridge in SF. a total blast, and i will most assuredly play it through again...Lire l'avis complet...

Great game, glitch and hacker infested.

I absolutely love multiplayer homefront, since the day I played the demo. Their's somthing about it that makes it so much funner then the mainstream series like CoD or BF. Instead of being lead by example with the whole "realism" thing, THQ put their own crative twist on the battlefront. My only complain is the large ammount of hackers and glitches unattended. Single player was pretty good but it crashes ps3 systems in single player and their was never a resolve patch apperently.Lire l'avis complet...

playable version of dvd red dawn sort of

Homefront tells the tale of a United States that's barely recognizable today. Victimized by a hard-hitting series of events that have collapsed America's economy and prestige, the U.S. is as vulnerable as it's ever been. An unlikely foil rises in the power vacuum left by the U.S. -- a unified Korea -- and by the year 2027, Korea has launched an all-out attack on the American mainland.Homefront is something totally different. There are no big set-pieces or large scale battles here. You'll be fighting your enemies in abandoned cul-de-sacs, seized warehouses, and even survivalist compounds. Homefront doesn't shy away from overt acts of violence, grisly scenes of human carnage, or other realities of war and occupation. All of this goes a long way towards making the world of Homefront feel real.Homefront is unremarkable. That's not to say that it's not fun, because it is. But while Homefront tries to do everything different with its presentation, it doesn't buck any trends with the way it plays. This is a shooter you'll be familiar and comfortable with, but it's not a paradigm-shifting product that will force you to think about shooters differently. You'll be aiming down the sights of assault and sniper rifles, chucking grenades (with a laughably bad animation), and killing loads and loads of enemies. This is classic shooter fare
Driven by an ingenious and surprisingly well-fleshed out plot and a dark and dreary, realistic setting.

I will add to my video game collection.

I have rented the game before, and really enjoyed it. Fair Warning! If you don't have a large TV screen, be prepared to sit REALLY close to the TV when you go into the multiplayer online game mode. The story line is interesting, but moving up in objectives can be difficult because the computer players move at a much slower pace than your avatar runs. Theatrical sequences between missions is highly detailed, and keeps you interested in putting a stop to the attack on US soil.Lire l'avis complet...
