I ordered the VHS, because the dvd has been edited. The truth is very horrific, and it should be there to tell how ugly anti- semitism is.

Holocaust movie touches on important history

I like the Holocaust movie better than many others because it follows not only a Jewish family, but a man who joins the SS. Viewers see how a man who had some goodness in him gets sucked into the darkness of the Third Reich. The stories of the SS are not often told. They're as important as those of Jewish families because it helps us to see how this happened.

I also like that this movie touches on all the important events in Nazi Europe of World War II -- the Warsaw ghetto uprising, partisans, Auschwitz, Theresienstadt the "model prison," a dissenter (the SS man's uncle who disapproved of the final solution and tried to save Jews), Krystalnacht, Babi Yar, etc.

The only errors in the movie are small -- for example, there's too much bedding in the concentration camp barracks. And Berta would never have been able to keep family photos at the concentration camp. But the other historic events are accurate.Lire l'avis complet...
