A nice 5400RPM drive dows wonders.

As a foreword; HTSxx if I am not mistaken the first two xx is the rotational speed of the drive. 42, 54 and 72 being 4200, 5400 and 7200 RPMs respectively.

I know Hitachi as a few other models that carry that Hitachi label but are totally different and I haven't used those drives but I've had really good luck with this generation Travelstar (I use a 30GB 4200RPM version in a ThinkPad X31 for the last 5 and a half years; no reallocated sectors after 12,000 hours!).

40GB are also common and still large enough for any operating system in use (Win98SE, Win2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 even 64-bit versions). For laptops using Vista and up the OS eats a third or more of the drive so it's good as a small browsing machine. I just for some reason like the number 40...Probably in terms of my continually erasing and testing it's large enough to work and small enough to sanitize (about 24 minutes to erase the whole disk vs. my 120GB SATA's 75 minutes).

Just remember to analyze the hard drive's internal firmware diagnostics before putting these units into production. The exact model HDD I bought for my Toughbook seems to be in perfect health.Lire l'avis complet...

I put the drive in the tablet but it would not recognize it. So I used a usb hard drive reader to check it out but it could not see it either. It was a low price and if you want to do it right you need to pay more. My loss!Lire l'avis complet...

Hitachi hard drive great.

Good strong hard drive, does the job. Quit and smooth, easy installation. fast enough to work.Why can't i say what i want in less than 100 characters. who made this trash.

Hard To Find HD

Hard to find small ide hard drives for older equipment. This drive fits the bill and works great.

Was not DOA; about 30-40% faster than 4500 rpm old HDD

So far so good. Passed a simple and detailed disk scan. Used it for about a few days with a fresh install. Made the system read/write about 30 % faster than the original 4500 RPM drive. Overall system performance increased about 10%. Ran at about 52 C according to disk check utils.
