iPaq H220, great? or Awesome!

Well, it didn't arrive with all the pieces,
Description stated a few pieces were in fact, missing.

I have ordered the new pieces, and they shipped pretty quick.

When I put the battery cover on (I already had it plugged in)
The unit quickly kicked on and began the "HP iPaq Loading screen" which loads all the necessary files into ram.

Surprisingly enough, this unit was a bit faster than any other PDA I've owned.
Quickly I knew I would grow to like this device.

Not bad configuring the thing, it is just like any other pocket pc you would have to configure when you hard reset, or turn it on the first time.
After that, I was QUICKLY greeted with the "You may now use your Pocket PC" screen!

Wow, I thought - That was fast.
The StrongARM 400MHZ processor blows away the competition, among my favorite of units.

I've previously owned quite a few Casio devices, such as the ever-so-popular BE-300, along with the E-100, and E-105.
Also, I have the EG-800, recently won, and waiting for shipment as of this review.
I've liked MIPs based devices, I've grown quite used to them and have lots of apps saved for these, but they weren't good for fast-paced games.

Sure, they have SolskiaCE, and some other fine games - But the iPaq was clearly going to prove it's ground.

Browsing through the menus, I've found it to be easily navigable, standard iPaq layout (I've had the H1900 too.).

In any case, the bluetooth is a plus, I have bluetooth stereo headphones, and would love to listen to my music from the iPaq, I haven't gotten around to doing so yet.
I'm sure it supports stereo bluetooth output, but if not- there are tons of 3rd party applications which let you do so.

The "Pocket Office" is just your standard MS Office, just shrunk and stripped of many, many features, however it is definitely useful for editing already existing projects.

iPaq includes a program called "iPaq Backup" - Not your full backup program, but does let you backup documents and programs.
Also, All models of iPaq (At least the ones I have owned) include a self diagnostics application.
This is great because it can check for errors in memory, flash, batter, ect.

All great tools, but there are some 3rd party apps I favor.
In any case, the iPaq has taken my other devices, and thrown some good competition.

I still love my BE-300, all those legacy apps, and the be300.org for providing GREAT suppport, but the iPaq has definitely won this for games, bluetooth, and the self-testing.

Neat little PDA

This was an upgrade for me from an iPAQ 3900 series. The improvements in my case was the fact that this little PDA no longer requires the shoe's to use COMPACT Flash memory since both CF and SD card slots are built in.

On the down side, without the shoes I can no longer depend on the external battery that was in my shoe and powerd my WiFi card, so the battery takes a beating on the 2215. I use the device nightly to watch some recorded TV shows that I have stored on my PC and get them through the WiFi setup. With this PDA I can only watch about three half hour shows before it pops up and warns me that the battery is getting low and I should charge it. My old setup gave me about twice that long, but again that was with an external battery.

Other then that, I am well pleased with the little guy, too bad it does not have built in wifi but the Blue Tooth is nice I can now sync with my main machine without having to mess around with the USB Sync deal. I picked up a cheep little BlueTooth device from some outfit in China for a couple of bucks, this was worth every cent as it works great for sync! I did have to pick up a full version of bluetooth software as the little deal only had a limited version so that was another twenty bucks to register. Oh well in todays world ou rarely get something for nothing I guess.

I enjoy the retro cool ipaq2215 tech toy

I always liked the design of the ipaq units when they came out a few years ago. I was using a great Casio PDA/pocket pc at the time and shunned all of the Palm Pilots being touted by my business cohorts.I know there are so many smartphones and I-phones out there on the market today but I longed for a good working pocket pc and the ipaq 2215 fills the bill. I have barely tapped into the range of good things I can do. I love the transcriber handwriting recognition, the pocket notes that allows me to draw ideas/schematics etc. I can't wait to get a wireless card so I can do even more connecting along the way. Of course I could buy one of the new i-phone type devices but the ipaq 2215 is my retro cool tech toy with no big data charges each month.Lire l'avis complet...

It's still useful HPIpaq.

As a old device the HP Ipaq still has a good use to this day. The HP Ipaq has IR and a program in it that can control your devices. I use it as a universal Smart Remote. I can control my old things like my VCR and new things like my HD TV. As a repairman sometimes people forget to gi e me the remote to there tv set's and to get into the setup function you need the remote. The HP Ipaq comes in handy for that.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice schedule and list helper

I haven't even touched on all the features this PDA has, and have never had a PDA before but this has already really helped me keep up with lists and appointments. Having such a lightweight "computer" around is becoming more and more fun as I use it day after day.
This particular brand and model was highly recommended by my techie stepson and I use it for our small business as well as for personal list-making and geocaching.
I highly recommend it as a way to get more organized and have more information at your fingertips.

IPAQ 2215

I have been using the IPAQ for a couple of weeks now. I use it to keep track of my contacts and calendar, read and write word and excel documents, and to play music and video files. The screen is bright and easy to read, even with very small fonts. The sound quality is very good. The installed 64 Megs of RAM hold a lot of data and programs. I do not use the IR or bluetooth so I cannot comment on those features. It does not have Wifi, which I would use if it did. It takes both Compact Flash and SD cards for storage.

This is a very good PDA if your primary needs are data and multimedia storage. I think this is an exceptional buy for the money, especially if you can find a good used one for under $50.

Awesome

1st- 4 star coz Wi fi is not built in. But with 25$ you can add cf wifi which is fine.

WIfi is not there coz its also very small and handy.

self replacable battery, make it much more accessable to customers.

I like the battery life as well, With my GPS running (HIKING TRIP) lasted almost 2hrs. Not bad at all.

Graphics and color combinations are awesome.

overall its a good buy if you grab it right under 130$$ (without any stuff, Just the PDA)

good luck

Hp Ipaq Pocket PC H2215

I love the functionality of it. it can do basically everything for you except be a phone! it is a great item and the battery life is good, and it is light and very mobile. my recommendation is to get an ipaq of some sort because of the functionality of it and the just "handiness" of it. also if you are looking for something that you can use on the go and need to compute many things or have many tasks to accomplish, the ipaq H2215 is for you. Plus it also acts as a remote fo your tv's, stereo systems and other electronics, which comes in very hand when you cant find the remote and your show is just going to come on. and ipaq is great, but if your just looking for an awesome PDA this is the one to go for!Lire l'avis complet...

A very popular Pocket PC

The Ipaq 2200 series Pocket PC is very popular. Some of the positives: CF and SD card slot. Perfect to use as a GPS. Built in Nevo if you want to use it as a remote control. 400 mhz processor - powerful for a pocket pc. Small form factor - does not feel clunky in the hand. Removable battery - easy to replace. Negatives - none that I can think of.Lire l'avis complet...
