Great features for the price
This is a great switch considering the features vs cost. The price I paid for this (new condition) managed switch is about half of the cost of a new UNmanaged Cisco at the same speed and number of ports. Procurve switches are known to be solid switches, and this one has a lifetime warranty. This switch is fanless and wall- or rack-mountable. One caveat, is that they recommend against wall-mounting the switch with the ports sideways... only facing up or down.
As a managed switch, it supports VLANs, link aggregation, QoS, and port mirroring, but not much else. Management-wise it does SNMP and LLDP. It also has some energy saving features (802.3az and port low power mode). It's essentially a department level switch which can minimally participate in your core network.
It also works wells as a SOHO switch if you need to separate traffic with VLANs (e.g. guest wireless). This is my primary use of the switch. I do wish it had private/isolated VLANs, but I'm still quite happy with it at this price point.Lire l'avis complet...
