Not a fan of vertical shooters but...

This game is awsome and addictive. Now, i never got into shooters cuz they seem like theyre all the same to me. Shooters to me are like a cell phone game.. like tetris. There kinda fun but i wanna play a video game! And this game is awsome cuz it doesnt stick you in a space ship like all shoorters. Youre a cowboy walking whiich i like alot bettter.. this game is cheap so buy it. Even if you dont play alot of nes, get it! Its 10-17 dollars.. great for your collection!! Oh yea and its hard. But not tooo hard where you wont wanna play. but it is hard. The type of hard that youll keep playing for a couple of hours to get past a level. And thats why nes and retro games are way better then ps4/xbox games.Lire l'avis complet...

Classic great shooter from the retro NES days, GUN SMOKE!!!

This is a classic shooter for the NES console. This game is comparable to Millipede or Galaga or maybe the best comparison is 1943: The Battle for Midway. Basically the point of the game is you're this cowboy going through various towns/territories and you're cleaning up the places. The view is top down and the levels scroll on their own from top to bottom in which you have free range of motion on the whole screen. You start off with just your two normal pistols, but you can upgrade your guns by purchasing or finding them. There is a shotgun and a machine gun and a magnum. This game isn't too long, I believe it has 6 levels, but it's very much like the original Contra in that it's also a very short game but very hard to beat, especially the later levels. The only way to face each levels final boss you must first find thier wnated poster. You can purchase on of these from either the man or woman that pop up in the various levels with money you get from killing the bad guys, or you can simply find them. They are hidden in one spot in each level, usually an invisible barral that you have to shoot. Also, you cna buy, or once agian find, a horse. This is very a very strong ally in this game as it will take three hits to kill you now instead you just one. (Two shots to kill your horse, one to kill you). The control style is moving left, right, up and down, and you can even move on the diaganal which was mostly unheard of in NES games like this one, so it was ahead of its time in that regard. Also, you could shoot left, right, or straight ahead with two guns, or the shotgun alone which a lot of you retro gamers (and I alike) prefer to refer to as the spread gun made most famous by the Contra franchise. You definitely will have to think fast in this game. You'll have enemies and objects coming at your from all different directions and you'll even have bombs going off planted right in front of you. It gets really ridiculous when the enemies start coming from behind you. Then you'll have to get good with your timing and weaving skills, because unfortunately you cannot shoot backwards. Actually now that I think of it, this game is very much like Smash TV in the effect of how so many enemies and objects come at you from all different directions at the same time. It really creates that feeling of being overwhelmed and you wont know which way to turn. Sometimes the only recourse is to plow startight through your enemies by blowing them away as you walk. This game is truelly great though. I've been able to get to the last stage once or twice, but believe me, if you expect to make any head way in this game at all, your hands are going to be sore. It's the natrure of the beast. I've had a lot of fun playing this game as a child and I cannot wait to play it agian. I highly recommend this calssic game for the NES. Made by Capcom before the days of Resident Evil, this game reigned supreme. If you're a shooter genre fan, it really doesn't get any better than this! Easy to learn but hard to master. As far as the graphics go they are pretty good for and NES game, and the sound and music is nothing to complain about either. Get ready for a showdown from the old west! Definitely give this one a shot, I think you'll like it a lot!Lire l'avis complet...

Great game for any NES collection.

Plays just as good as Red Dead Redemption games, a good callback to childhood nostalgia.

Great SHMUP

Gun.Smoke is a Vertical Scrolling "Shoot 'em Up" (SHMUP), originally an arcade classic; it was later ported to many systems including the NES.

Game play is very simple; the player takes control of a Cowboy in the Wild West bent on freeing the citizens of Hicksville from bandits, Indians, ninja, and the infamous Wingate Family.

In order to advance from one stage to the next, a stage boss must be defeated. In order for the boss to appear, the player must either find or buy the "Wanted Poster" item; otherwise the level will loop.

Weapons consist of shotguns (spray of bullets), machine guns (rapid fire), magnums (unmatched explosive power), the starting generic guns, and a "Smart Bomb". (Basically, if you get shot when this item is in your possession, you won't die but all the enemies on screen will.)

There are numerous power ups, such as boots to increase speed, rifles to increase shot distance, and a horse that lets the player take more hits; (among others.)

It's a very addicting game, great graphics, beautiful music, challenging, and just overall awesome; definitely recommended.
