Latest Guitar Hero has great songs but lacks challenge

In the latest installment of Guitar Hero, we FINALLLY get the chance to play songs from one of best metal bands ever - Metallica! The songs contained on this Guitar Hero are great, especially if you love Metallica. One bad point about this game, though, is that there are fewer songs overall compared to earlier games (52 total in this game). Another disappointment is that this installment of Guitar Hero lacks the challenge that some of the former games had. Gig sets open up too easily and you end up with just a list of songs to play through. Previous games required you to play a really tough song to finish before moving on to the next set. Also, there isn't one final "boss" song at the end that you need to complete to win the game. In fact, I had the final credits play after I had played just the next to last song. I still had one song that I hadn't played when the final credits rolled. Quite a final letdown.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this game, based on the songs included and some new additions to the face-offs and multiplayer facets.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome game

Works perfectly, disc was practically scratch free, loads fast, I love it. Definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes music or just wants to have fun. It won't let you down.

Guitar Hero Metallica is a worthwhile buy.

I can 5 star every song on Expert for all guitar heros, yet I cannot even complete Dragon Force Through the Fire and Flames on Guitar Hero III, and I can not get through War Ensemble by Slayer which is featured on this game. In my opinion Van Halen has the best songs, but you have to be a fan of his music because their are practically no other good artists on the game. Metallica edition has pretty technical music and some decent selections. The drumming in the game gets pretty complex on some songs and seems to be a lot harder then the guitar.

Guitar Hero Metallica Not For The Weak of Heart

Hello out there. Does anyone actually read these things, let alone take the time to write them? That statement made, I can gush about this game. I think it's the best guitar oriented game to date. Since I have all the Rock Band & Guitar Hero games, I feel confident in giving this critique. I've played 'em all and was just about to give up on them since I couldn't seem to improve past medium settings on either. Enter Guitar Hero Metallica. Being a fan familiar with the songs helps gameplay significantly, but more importantly, medium settings on this game for all instrumentation proved to be very challenging. This spurred me on to take another look at my other games and I found the more difficult settings were no longer as difficult. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Guitar Hero Metallica is so much fun and so much more challenging (in a good way), it renewed my interest in the other games to the point where it were as if they were new again. Medium settings on previous games seem kinda slow by comparison. Not so on GH Metallica. Just when I THOUGHT I "mastered" medium, I was humbled, and fell back to easy on a FEW songs. But that will change, I hope. Graphics and sound quality are excellent of course. Those who do not have the newer controller w/ the "slider," may want one now, as it has proven to be essential for this game, at least in my hands. I give the game 5 stars or skulls, if you prefer, and highly recommend it, although it is not recommended for the weak of heart. I would not advise it to be the first guitar oriented game for the gamer who is a beginner to purchase, unless he or she is a fan of the band, as it may prove to be frustrating for very young beginners and older players with arthritis such as myself. The nice thing about these games is that it encourages REAL guitar playing and stimulates thought processes in that area. At least it does for me.Lire l'avis complet...

If You're a Metallica Fan, Then you have to Play this!

Anyone who has ever played any Guitar Hero title for an extended period of time will invariably come across a song that completely owns them.

I'm not talking about a Pat Benatar number, or something from the Killers or Nirvana. They're easy. No, the song that will have you staring in fear at a wall of notes while your rock meter goes into the red faster than ACC will almost certainly be metal, and extremely heavy at that. The reason you never got past hard on Guitar Hero III was because of Slayer, not Santana.

Overjoyed as we were with the news last year that Metallica would not only contribute a bunch of their songs for a band-exclusive Guitar Hero title, we were far more interested to see just how developers Neversoft would deal with the difficulty level. World Tour and Aerosmith were noticeably easier than Guitar Hero III, the former going as far as to require much more accurate tracking for hammer-ons and pull-offs, the latter - well, Aerosmith could be described in a lot of ways, but "brutally hard" would not be one of them.

Before we get to what it's like to play, it's worth noting just how inclusive this title is when it comes to Metallica lore. The band members were involved in every step of the development, with James Hetfield personally laying down the basic idea for the Career Mode storyline. This is based on a group of fans who followed Metallica around on tour in the early 1990's. It's important to realise that career progression is not done in chorological order like Aerosmith - Metallica vetoed that suggestion, and it's just as well. Imagine starting your career mode off with Motorbreath, or Pulling Teeth; you'd need carpal tunnel surgery before the second set.

Speaking of which, you'll no longer have to play gigs to progress, Metallica harks back to the original Guitar Hero set lists style, each requiring you to not only pass songs, but achieve a certain number of stars to progress. There's also no need to perform endless early songs to get to the later stuff, as in Quickplay mode, all set list songs are unlocked by default.

We've compiled a list of all the current known songs in this release on page two of this article. There's a good selection of not only Metallica classics, but songs from artists that have inspired Metallica, and those they've either performed with, or produced covers of. Some of the more notable include Bob Seger ("Turn the Page" was covered by Metallica on their 1998 Garage Inc. album), Lynyrd Skynyrd (the first album James Hetfield bought was from Lynyrd Skynyrd, paid for with his lawnmower money) and Motorhead. Motorhead is a recurring theme in Guitar Hero: Metallica, as not only is the Motorhead anthem "The Ace of Spaces" included, frontman, bassist and all-round legend Lemmy features as a playable character.

Where Aerosmith dabbled in video featurettes and location-specific gigs to immerse the player, Guitar Hero: Metallica goes way further. Not only will you have access to a comprehensive extras submenu that features unlockable venues, songs, commentary, videos and behind-the-scenes footage, you can also replay completed songs with trivia pop-ups that give information about each track. With guest artist songs, you can learn how each band is tied to Metallica, along with lyrics and history facts.

Themed Battle Modes will make an appearance too. We didn't get to sample these, but we've been reliably informed you'll be able to "fade to black" your opponents note track.Lire l'avis complet...

Guitar Hero “Metallica” for PS2

Metallica was the only Guitar Hero for PS2 I needed to complete my collection. Game disc plays fine, gameplay is smooth. Love it🤘🎸!

Great game plus it works with rock band drums (PS2)

If you are a fan of the guitar hero/rock band series and are into heavier music, this game is a gem that cannot go unplayed. This game features many great metallica songs plus songs the band choose for players to get familiar with. Many of the songs are extremely hard on expert and on drums... well if you are a drummer the expert+ mode is for you! The great thing about this game though, specifically the ps2 version, is that you CAN connect your Rock Band drumset and mic to the ps2 to play the drum and vocal portions; instant savings right there!

guitar hero metallica

wow thats a big setlist. the song choice was the best, in my opinion, and i have EVERY guitar hero. the drawback is that the game loads very slowly, at least for the PS2 system. you can expect some lag when choosing the charicters, but there is lag everywhere, even when im just scrolling through the songs, which is a very big let down on guitar heros side. other then the slow loading its a great game, with the hammer ons and pull offs of guitar hero 3 with the band option of rock band. the players can activate star power individually, which i like over guitar hero 3. all in all, a pretty good game, i would give it a 3.8 out of 5Lire l'avis complet...
