Loved the first 3 seasons...but this one was a downer.

Review about Grey's Anatomy. The work not the product folks. I got hooked in Grey's after returning from NZ in 05 after the first year it hit broadcast. It along with Desparate Housewives pulled me in. Though when our TV signal is working we get both up here 600 miles north of anywhere...but often signal is out or worse perhaps so bad you get sick trying to watch it....and still in the middle it goes out. So.. we turn to DVD's. And though of course the Writers strike did mess up all of them last year....and they are still sold as if they are a full season of 24 episodes.....maybe networks are hoping to break even towards paying the writers their share...or not! But still a fan so would like to see some new story lines freshen it up & bring it back to the same life the first 3 seasons of fun & silly & oh my gosh events...seems season 4 took a nose dive. Turned a tad too dark & moody & went places that drag down the whole show in general. The ladies suicide at the end....yuck. That whole downer didn't play well from start to season end. Maybe a few more episodes that were missing would have had time to turn it around...me don't think so. I've got fingers crossed for this year. A new Year perhaps the writers and characters can all move on....or back to the roots of what made it so charming in the first place. Please WRITERS are you hearing...Producers? It's Grey's Anatomy. What's not to like?

Purchased this because I like Grey's Anatomy and wanted to have all of the seasons to be able to view whenever I wanted.

The 4th season of Grey's Anatomy has the least amount of episodes. All seasons (except for the first, of course) run about 22-27 episodes each. The 4th season has 18. If I remember right, only one or two episodes are actually extended in the pack. In my opinion, the 4th season has the least amount of drama and doesn't have a particularly gripping season finale in which I feel like I have to purchase the next season right away in order to find out what happens. I kind of felt like this season could have ended the entire show with how the season finale ended if they had chosen to end it.

Positives: It's Grey's Anatomy. Quite a few things come together in this season concerning character's romances/lives.

Not So Positives: In my opinion, least amount of drama happens in this season. Only a couple episodes extended in the expanded pack. Season finale isn't as good as the rest of the seasons, also in my opinion.Lire l'avis complet...

The Life Show on Its Fourth Season Does Not Disappoint

Portraying the twists and turns, fates and fortunes of life is what "Grey's Anatomy" all about, and with this fourth season this was no different. Some highlights:

- Christina still hasn't coped with the loss of Burke. Her obssession with perfectionism at work is a clear sign of that. Additionally, she has to deal with the tough temperament of Dr. Hahn, Burke's substitute, who just neglects Christina's existence.
- Derek develops a romantic relationship with one of the nurses at the hospital, but he clearly is still in love with Meredith, to the point they seem to get back together in the season finale after a very tough surgery that unites them under the same cause.
- The marriage between George and Callie turns out to be a failure, as well as the relationship between George and Izzie, who both initially thought they had real feelings for each other.
- Miranda's also with emotional issues regarding her marriage, once her devotion to work seems to be bigger than her family life.
- Meredith starts therapy in order to work out her insecurities toward things, especially her shaky relationship with Derek.

These were just a few of them. There's also the relationship between Alex and Rebecca, Lexie and Meredith, Callie and Hahn and Richard and Adelle that would take lines and lines to describe. Once again, this season was just about relationships. Medical cases, as always, are just in the background.

Some people complain they don't know where this show is going to. In fact, it is hard to predict with so many things happening in so different ways. What makes a TV show great is the unpredictability factor. Life is just that way: unpredictable. Things don't work out as planned, sometimes we make choices just to regret later, we do strange things and decisions in moments of weakness. When it comes to emotional issues, there is no logic involved, and expecting this show to be predictable would just ruin the magic it creates. The Video: How Does The Disc Look?

The show may be hollow now, but GA continues to be a solid overachiever in the video presentation department. As with the 1.78:1 transfers on the second- and third-season box sets, there is a lot of blue and grey in the visual scope, and they’re represented with acute clarity and wonderful, punchy contrast. Black levels are also exceptionally well maintained, and finely grained detail is top-notch. It’s a wonderful sign of exemplary video transfers that the outdoor and non-hospital sequences have the same kind of visual finesse that the majority of the series has. These episodes look great.

The Audio: How Does The Disc Sound?

Ditto with the Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Rivaling Lost as truly enveloping and with panoramic aural representations, these audio mixes showcase wondrously clear dialogue and exceptional (and multi-layered) atmospherics and sound effects. Although the soft-rock tendencies of the show’s musical underscore sometimes gets a bit overdramatic (get these guys some songs that aren’t totally alterna-easy-listening crap, guys!), the cues’ placement is never overbearing. And during the show’s more intense moments, the bass really kicks into high gear.

Included are English, Spanish and French subtitles and English Closed Captions.

Supplements: What Goodies Are There?

Things are thinner as far as bonuses go this time around for GA. First up are some featurettes: New Docs on the Block (8:00) is a look at the show’s newest cast additions; On Set With Patrick and Eric (6:00) has McDreamy and McSteamy talking about their characters and how they’ve developed over the past four years; Good Medicine: Favorite Scenes (14:00) has cast members offering their choices for the best moments of the season; and, One Quick Cut (5:00) is basically the season in a nutshell (it’s a fast-paced montage covering all the events of the year).

We also have about twelve minutes’ worth of deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and some trailers for other Buena Vista TV-on-DVD titles.

Final Thoughts

This show looks and sounds amazing on DVD, so if you have been able to successfully keep up with Grey’s Anatomy, this fourth season box set will keep you occupied with excellent presentations. I want to go to Seattle Grace if I ever get sick!!!

I just love the story lines involving not only the doctors but the trauma's they handle. The first episode I ever saw was Code Black (I don't think that's the name but its what made me watch the show.) I saw it advertised a few years ago during a Super Bowl and though I'd worked in a hospital for many years I didn't know what a Code Black was. At least I couldn't remember. ha ha It took one episode and I was hooked! It just happens it was a 2 parter so I had no choice but to watch the next show. I've watched it ever since and just had to have the entire collection. I love the romance of Meridith and Derrick even more now that I've seen it in its entirety. You have no idea what you miss when you don't see them all. I feel that I understand each of the characters much better. My only regret was not checking for a collection of all 4 seasons. I thought there was only 3 so I bought that one first. Well, then I found out there was a 4th Season so you KNOW I had to get it even though I'd seen all the episodes. There's nothing better than watching them all, one right after the other! I haven't enjoyed a show this much since I got hooked on All My Children. This has most definitely become my all time favorite. I've watched all the special features too. There's just something about this show...I wanted to know everything I could about it.
