The Garmin GPSMAP 182C GPS Receiver is an excellent handheld GPS for the money. The manufacturer has installed many user-friendly features that make the first time buyer or the professional happy. They manufacturer has excellent customer service and many additional add-ons to make this unit an extremely versatile GPS to be used on trips, hunting, fishing or camping.
Suggestion:
1. One of the best ways to protect investment is to purchase a Protective Case for this GPS. You can find a top of the in line protective case that protects while allowing full viewing and access to all the features of your GPS unit. 3. Purchase an Amplified External GPS Antenna for the unit. The internal antenna is ok but will become intermittent in high buildings, cloudy skies and stormy weather. Purchase a quality, high gain remote antenna. See specification on 28dB and 55dB GPS antenna at:

Large color screen.
Tides, sunset, sunrise for your local area.
Charts available for an additional price and when installed will show contour lines and depths.

The soft pad buttons are easy to use.

We like the tracking feature. This allows us to use the same route the next time out. We navigate through a lot of shallow waters and to have a tracking line to follow either getting to the location or to follow to get back home really makes the trip more enjoyable.

This unit has been a round for a while. Newer chart plotters do not have the large screen. This unit does.

Still a good machine

Many pages of info and data. Fast satellite acquisition. Bright screen. Sad to say the unit
has been discontinued by Garmin. Unlike new units this one needs an external antenna,

Greatness from Garmin

I saw a unit just like this on my cousins boat while visiting him in Rockport Texas last year. I was so impressed with the accuracy, specifically tracking ourselves home in a bad storm, that I just had to have one. The tidal charts and mapping capabilities make boating not only safer but productive, and surely more economical in these heightened gas price times. Clearly, Garmin has utilized its research in an outstanding manor this time. I have some aircraft flying experience and this, in my opinion, by far is much easier than any instrument flying system I have ever used. It can make the amateur sailor, such as myself, look like a professional with minimal effort. 182C Garmin GPS Color

I have purchase 4 GPS's counting this one and all have been Garmins.This unit was the 1st one I had tried with a "color" screen.I had issues with being able to see well so I have sold it already.This was probaly due more the fact I wear glasses with bifocals.The speed and funtions were great,the price also.I know the unit was a discontinued model but I have never had any issues with Garmins products,or support.The person that bought the unit (does not wear glasses) loves it!Lire l'avis complet...

Appearance was good. Tested good using the hardware from my old Garmin. Packaged very well for shipping and was the best price I have seen on this model product posted for on-line sales.

Exactly as advertised.

This is an older out of date Garmin unit but it is the same one I have on my boat that has become unreadable over the years. The unit was exactly as advertised, I swapped the enclosed map card with mine which was newer and more specific to Florida, I removed the old waypoints, programmed the ones I need and it functioned perfectly. Great product,great company, great customer service.

I bought this unit to replace another brand that I had purchase earlier.I already have Garmin electronics on my boat so I thought I'd try another brand to see if I like it. I found out that I didn't like the other brand,so I went back to Garmin. It has great detail and I have the Fishing Hot-Spots maps that I can load on the Garmin card and insert it in the unit..Very easy to operate..This is my 2nd Garmin GPS unit I have purchased over the years..I think if I ever purchase another it also will be Garmin..
