Legit GE part, good price

I can't actually speak to effectiveness or longevity yet, but it appears to be a legitimate OEM part. My issue is that I put it into my fridge that just decided that it wanted to spring a leak somewhere near the water cooler whenever you request water, and I suspect it does the same thing when it makes new ice. So... until I get that fixed (and maybe figure out why the water/ice dispenser in the door appears to be slowly leaking - I had originally suspected partially discharged ice cubes slowly leaking inside the door, but that might not be accurate) I won't be able to even run this for the few minutes that it asks you to before using the filter... Good Product but Confusing Instructions

The instructions are confusing and may not apply to every GE model.

The instructions for installation said to remove the old filter by turning it to the left but we had to turn it to the right to remove it. Then, to install the new filter, we had to turn it in the opposite direction of the instructions.

The instructions also said to line up the arrow on the filter with the arrow on the cartridge holder. Our model's cartridge did not have any arrows. We figured it out by having the filter's arrow go in the front.Lire l'avis complet...

Good Value

Genuine GE product for a better price than the local stores. Works very well and lasts a long time. My appliance repair person told me that the off-brand filters have a tendency to cause damage and the need for repairs in the refrigerators they are used in, and that has been my experience. Therefore, I buy the genuine manufacturer's filter (in this case GE) but they are very expensive to purchase. I'm glad to find them at least somewhat better priced online.Lire l'avis complet...

Works As Advertised

Bought these at a discounted price, so I was slightly skeptical that they might not be the actual GE filters. They were exactly as advertised ... the ones that matched my refrigerator. Been using the first one for a month or more with excellent results.

The only issue was that I had to run some water, no more than a half gallon, through the filter to get rid of an odd taste when it was first installed. I seem to remember that was the case with a filter that I bought a few years ago, as well. Other users of GE filters have mentioned that, too, so I don't think that's a big negative.Lire l'avis complet...

Mirage Basics MWF

My fridge takes the GE MWF filter. No big deal, have went through 2-3 different brands and never had an issue. Now the last brand I used was ECO AQUA and it was very good, but they had no more. Grabbed a 3 pack of these Mirage Basics MF 14 (mwf). They are absolutely a joke. They line up perfectly and everything. BUT... noticed my fridge was making a whining noise every time I got water. Then one day it stops allowing water from coming out! I pull out the filter, rotated it 180 degrees thinking it was gonna help. It did. The next day, no water is coming out. Installed my old filter, no noise and water came right out. Put this crap filter back in. Applied slight pressure upwards. Heard that whining noise and was able to get water. Turns out, while the heads look similar and it lines up, it's thinner. So that means you're gonna have an issue with the filter because it need to fit snug. Get another brand. This brand and version might work with another type of fridge, but it didn't work with my MWF. Lire l'avis complet...

I've been using it for awhile and could not notice how different its quality with the original one.

I did not want to jump the gun to make a judgement. Thus, I tried it for many weeks before sharing my viewpoints. What I can say now is I could not notice how its quality is different with the original filter I replaced. Maybe only the special equipment in the lab can tell. Human can't.

Price and quality in one package

The water filters for my GE refrigerator fir perfectly, stopped the noise the backed up filter made and the taste of the ice is notably better. They are also much, much cheaper than what GE advertised the filters would cost yet, here are the filters that are GE branded for much less. It boggles my mind that the filters are 7 times cheaper than what is advertised by GE. It pays to look around and avoid the markup.

GE water filters are a good deal

Easy to install & remove. Change after about one year as when light comes on on fridge.
Inexpensive & have been easy to get on eBay.

Quality Filters!

These filters are the best, water tastes just like it did with original OEM filter. First purchase of filters from different Ebay seller ended up being comparable filters under a different brand/manufacturer that were definitely not comparable. I went through 2 filters in a short time trying to figure out why I wasn't getting quality water (had a distinctive flavor that wasn't good). Bought these filters & PROBLEM SOLVED.
