Series for the entire family

We first saw this series on Masterpiece Theatre a few years ago and have been waiting for it to return, either as reruns or a new season. We decided we just could not wait any longer.

An excellent example of understated acting, drama, and intrigue. Each episode holds your attention until the very end. All this is accomplished with practically no gun shots, profanity, and car chases. Never see blood, guts, or nudity. This series is a plus for children because they can actually learn some WWII history from the British perspective. We turn on the closed captioning to help us with the British accent.

The main character is chief detective superintendent Christopher Foyle. He is a person of few words, but his facial expressions and body language speak volumes. There is great interaction between Foyle and his driver, and Foyle and his subordinate.

A must see in light of today's events.

I never watched this series when it was on, but started buying seasons to stay away from the news. Not always "up" it is a rare drama filled with historic accuracy about the UK as the war approached. Watch it and you will see unsettling parallels in today's news. I highly recommend this series for anyone who asks more of their entertainment than just fluff!Lire l'avis complet...

Outstanding series!

I have been a huge fan of Foyle's War since it first aired. The writing is exceptional thanks to writer and creator Anthony Horowitz. Although serious in nature, there is also a very nice touch of humor in each episode. One of best series

Foyles War is a favorite of mine. The acting is supberb, the set and scenery are so well done you feel as though you are back in the l940s. Storylines are very good. The best of the British drama series

I bought these because I read online that they were good. That is an enormous understatement! The Foyles' War series is the very best of their kind available.
they are marvelous murder mysteries and also excellent historical fiction. Michael Kitchen is my favorite detective of all time, and I am also a Hercule Poirot fan. I only wish there were more than 16 episodes available!Lire l'avis complet...

Foyle's War season #1

This starts the series of Insp. Foyle during WW2 (the big one !)plus we get to meet Sam ( Honeysuckle Weeks )that became a big part of the series. Even with those ugly Brit uniforms she looks good !r>The plots are inteligent and the filming is top notch & finding WW2 items must be difficult.
