This film's Rom-Com masterpiece stature still stands the test of time. Brilliant ensemble of young vs. old generations connecting or clashing wedding virtues and their questions! Hugh Grant's character 'Charles' delivers an unforgettably ambivalent & comical performance while witnessing several friends subscribe to the idea(s) of matrimony. Unexpectedly Charles is love-struck by Carrie [A.Maccdowell] and succumbs to the (un)forunate mistimings of (long-distance) love. Charles plight begins & ends with a man struggling to find his moment(s) far beyond his best man speech on bachelorhood vs. marital miseries and the upset at the altar.

Hugh Grant circa 1994 was still on the small American box office scale thus his nervousness cast for the role translated perfectly for the pensive and quirky Englishmen. The superb Richard Curtis script and execution make every scene hilariously awkward like Rowan 'f(m)umbling priest' Atkinson. Traces of despair, desperation and irony are heartfelt in silent reaction(s) among the actors depicting the single life exploring the world of compatability.

Not worth the time

I love both Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell, but this movie is crass, full of sex throughout, and the characters are shallow. Nothing like either of their other movies I've watched. For truly funny Hugh Grant comedy, watch Notting Hill. For truly funny Andie McDowell comedy, watch Groundhog Day. This movie was a great disappointment and NOT worth the time or the hype. A Classic Love Story for a New Age

If you love Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Kathryn Hepburn movies, you'll love this.

It's a classic love story played out over - well four hilarious weddings and one tear jerker of a funeral. Hugh Grant is at his best.

This is in my short stack of favorites. It will never be resold, loaned out, nothing.
