Beautiful book to add to any needlepoint collection. I bought it in particular for the color charts of Candace's pillows. There are 11 of them as well as a few other charts of smaller motifs. It contains many of her pillow designs for Ehrman that are out of print. The following charts are included: Maytime, Sweet Violet, Orange Blossom, Orange Tree, Fleur de Lys, Playing Cards, Illuminated Manuscript, Monkey, Standing Lion, Seated Lion and Unicorn. The charts include the Appleton wools and number of skeins of each color to complete the design. So if you're looking to stitch any of these pillows and can't find the kits, it's worth purchasing this book for the charts, buy canvas and yarns and stitich! That is, if you're comfortable working on blank canvas and following a chart versus stitching on a printed canvas. Disappointed with Flowers, Birds, and Unicorns: Medieval Needlepoint

While this is a beautifully illustrated book with interesting history and informative background, there weren't very many (20) charted designs compared to the large number of photographs (70). Pictures of completed projects that initially I thought would be in the book simply were not provided. So it seems buying the book was a waste of time and money. I do not recommend this book. Flowers, Birds, and Unicorns by Candace Bahouth

This is an excellent book and perfect if you enjoy medieval designs. The photos are very nice and the graphs are superb with explanation to transfer the designs. I prefer just to follow the graphs. I think this is easy to do. If you have done counted cross stitch l.e. The Scarlet Letter Sampler kits you should have no problem using this book to create pillows, vests etc. Also, Bahouth provides yarn choices to complete the designs. If you are familiar with Candace Bahouth designs, many which are no longer available, this is the book for you!!Lire l'avis complet...

Another lovely needlepoint book

I quite enjoy the author's work & will be using many of these patterns to decorate my sitting room.

There are good photographs, & well written instructions.

A Needlepoint Book to Treasure

Candace's designs in the book are beautiful--and perfectly detailed to work on canvas--along with yarn requirements.
