Out of this world looks, sounds of glorious Din

Owning a Fender amp was not on my list of priorities. But when the chance to own this Black Sparkle combo was presented to me, it's looks was my motivation, maybe reselling or modding...but what I was to discover, made me question my own audiophile addictions. This amp stands out among, my Egnaters, Black-stars, Jet City's, Haydens, Orange's, Peavy's and Vox's. Even my beloved Hughes and Kettner may have to wait in the confines of my studio...My Blues Jr III has a truly unique voice, giving all my guitars a new and glassious tone that can only be described as gallant and classy. Fender, what was I living under a rock the size of elephant feces? Or was the name on 30 guitars of mine void of amps, not of old or dead rockers, not learned in the art of rectifiers, Boutique's and drop tunings. All I can do is thank the guitar gods that a fender amp was attractive and affordable enough to find it's way into my studio. And again, this limited addition Black 70's Sparkle of metallic Blue, Purple and Silver, enhanced by a lone opaque white jeweled lamp, giving the glitter a moment to appear then disappear back into the black. Truly a special amp, not going to let this one ever go, lifer !Lire l'avis complet...

I'm loving the Humboldt Blues Jr - great little gigging amp!

The Blues Jr has been a workhorse for gigging guitarists for years now. I never owned one but have used them many many times at various venues and studios. What I liked was the rich harmonic content and gooey-ness of the tone. I didn't like the brittle top end or the flubby low notes at higher gain settings. The Humboldt version solves the brittle top with the Hemp cone speaker - way more smooth and pleasant. I've learned to dial in the sweet spot to lessen the flubby low end. This is actually not a fault of the amp but inherent in a small 15 watt combo when the power section and speakers are pushed to their limits. Overall I am loving the tone of this amp, verb sounds very dimensional, it screams with my strat, barks with my tele and at lower volumes gives me a surprisingly good jazz tone w my 175. At 30lbs it's a versatile grab and go gigging/recording amp. I think Fender and Pro Guitarshop got it right w this one!Lire l'avis complet...

Great little amp that's bigger than it's looks.

I kept reading about mods, upgrades, tubes and thought why buy ?
I finally decided to purchase one and find out and was truly impressed out of the box.
It has a unique sound but thats not a bad thing.
After a few weeks I decided to change the tubes and speaker.
It's back to stock. Enjoy it for what it is. If you want something different, buy another amp
This thing rocks

Rockin' For Jesus!

Spectacular Tube Amp Sound that takes pedal very well. I only play at church and this delivers all the overdrive and delay effects perfectly. 3 Preamp tubes and two power amp tubes give this baby a warm tube sound in a nice portable package.Lire l'avis complet...

Great little amp, for the price range, can't be beat

This is a classic Fender amp with classic Fender tone, only in a manageable size. 15 watts of all tube power enables you to play it cranked around 10 and get the most out of the tube tone capability. It only weighs 30 some pounds, and is easily carted around, yet plenty loud enough to hold down small gigs. At any large gig, simply mic the bad boy like you would any amp. It is a one channel amp, but has a sort of "boost" mode called "FAT". The FAT switch can be activated by pressing the push button on the amp or by purchasing a one button footswitch. The amp can also run an external speaker if desired. Real tank reverb sounds fantastic, but you cannot activate the reverb via a footswitch. I've heard it responds well to stop box rigs, but have not yet tried any. For the price range ($400-500 bucks) you really can't beat it.Lire l'avis complet...

Fender Blues Junior III 15-Watt 12-Inch Guitar Combo Amp

I needed an amp for practice and personal entertainment (I don’t gig any more). I know that there is a lot of lower cost modeling amps out there, but I wanted to get that “all tube” tone without any digital do-dads in the signal path.

I had intentions of changing out the stock speaker for an Eminence Cannabis Rex as recommended by some owners but the Blues Junior delivers that true Fender tone out of the box and sounds great as is. It may have benefitted from a slightly larger cabinet but we wanted a portable unit right?

Cranking the volume control and cutting back the master control gets me the tone and volume level I want. The treble, mid and bass tone stack is all you really need and the reverb is a real spring unit. Not sure how many people use the fat switch but its there if you need it and it’s also foot switchable.

Thankfully the control panel on the “Blues Junior III” is now readable from the front of the amp with white text on black background and not upside-down white text on chrome as on the previous models.

Bottom line, I highly recommend this amp, great for practice and the studio, loud enough to gig in smaller venues. Fantastic for blues, country and rock with some effects pedals in front, if you play metal, look elsewhere.

Blues Harp Player Gets a New Amp

Like most Blues Harp players, I was looking for that vintage sound. My research took me all over the place but I keep seeing a common thread. A low-wattage tube amp. I purchased a "Kustom 12" for just under a hundred bucks. With 1 preamp tube and a 6" speaker, it had a pretty good sound but not enough bottom end. For the guitar it is great but feeds back quite easily with the harp mic.

Everyone was saying that the JT-30 mic was a good mic to use. So I purchased a new one. I made a recording and sat in on several gigs with a guitar duet. When I jacked into the stage speakers this rig sounded pretty good on the bottom end.

I saved up and started looking for a new amp. Most of the big harp players had used Fender bass, tube amps, somewhere down the line and I figured that I would start there. I looked at a lot of used fender amps on ebay and almost pulled the trigger on some. But I really wanted a new amp, not a used one.

I figured that with 3,12AUX7 preamp and 2,EL-84 power tubes coupled with the 12" speaker that this amp has would give me the sound I was looking for.

I was right! WOW! I am very pleased. Great vintage sound, great bottom end and I can sit right next to it with the volume up pretty high with just the quiet purr of the hot tubs and without any feedback.

Somewhere I had to learn that great sound really comes from the player not the equipment. This amp will not correct your mistakes, in fact it will make them more pronounced, but it will give you great sound at an affordable price.

There are other versions of this amp. smaller speaker, fewer tubs. make sure that you get the right one.

I recommend the Fender Hot Rod Blues Junior 1x12 - 15 watt Combo amp along with the JT-30 mic to any harp player. I think that if you spent $1,000.00 more on your rig that you wouldn't be any happier.

Oh, by the way it sounds great when hooked up to my Epiphone, Les Paul or my Washburn Strat clone guitar.

Great Fender sound.

The Fender Blues Jr. sounds great. That great Fender tone. Simple, no frills. Lo, Mid, Hi, Reverb, Volume, Master Volume and a "Fat" switch. I don't imagine ever using the Fat switch...it doesn't make the tone of the amp any better, and if you're using a boost or fuzz it's useless. The spring reverb is very smooth and gets pretty deep the when you turn it up. This thing is LOUD for a small amp.

The only real negative about the Blues Jr. is the layout of the knobs, and I'm already getting used to it anyway. The knobs are upside down when standing in front of the amp, and the EQ knobs aren't in logical order. From left to right they go HI, LO, MID. But again, I'm getting used it.

I was thinking it might be loud enough to compete with a 50w bassman and a 65w musicman, but even though the volume got pretty loud, it sounded tinny compared to the larger speaker cabinets. But it's perfect for the studio.

Fender Hot Rod Blues Jr combo Amplifier

I bought this amp cos love the high sound quality. I'd given my original to my son & regretted it, so bought another for myself. It is a lighter-weight, smaller version of the larger Fender Hot Rod, which I also own, but has the same full-on sound quality, sustain & reverb, since it's a tube amp. It's great for a flat or home with limited space & portable enough for an impromptu jam session with your band mates. It packs a lot of full-bodied power at a very convenient size & weight. Especially great for lady guitarists for electrics or elecri-coustics.
I've played guitar for 43 years & would recommend this amp to anyone!

Plenty of dirt.

I switched from a Peavey Envoy to this Fender Blues Junior III.
I had a Fender Frontman that I had to return years ago because it was DOA. Not so with this amp!
It's definitely been an upgrade for me. You can get really clear tones to a dirty growl.
It's plenty loud for what I need and doesn't take much to dial in. It also takes pedals easy enough.
The Junior III makes my G&L guitars sound even better. Sounds equally good with single coils and humbuckers.
I wish I would have tried this model sooner.
