Alex O'Loughlin can be my feeder anytime, lol

Alex rocked in this film. I actually had been at the film festival when this movie premiered. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for the entire screening. Little did I know, he and the producer stayed to answer questions. Gosh darn! Anywho, I find Alex totally engaging whenever he's on the screen. He's got a lot of charisma and sex appeal which pervade every scene to make the movie POP! I especially enjoyed the scene in which he explains how society is the one possessing the skewed perception of beauty. He defended his role as a "feeder" disspelling the idea that his behavior damaged the female psyche but to the contrary released a woman's secret inhibition of eating to her heart's/stomach's content and being loved regardless of her size. Being doused in chocolate syrup (Heidi Klum did it too) with an Adonis like Alex "sampling the goods" would be a fetish simply too delicious to pass up!Lire l'avis complet...

Do you know what Feederism mean?

Many of you have probably never heard of this film before as did I til Chris brought it to my attention a couple of months ago. It's a shame that so many fantastic films get swept under the carpet while atrocious films get all the glory. (Take 80% of the horror remakes we've been forced to endure for example). Though this film is not so great it really bothers me when a unique and clever film such as "Feed" comes and goes almost without a trace. So here I am, doing my part to get this film the notoriety and respect it deserves. When it comes to fresh material, "Feed" is what I'd imagine it would feel like if someone was intentionally drowning you until the point where every red-blood cell in your body was screaming for oxygen. But a split second before you expire, they lift your head into the fresh air and the initial breath is so refreshing you feel euphoric.

"Feed" is based on an underground sexual fetish known as "feederism." Feederism is a sexual fetish (specifically a type of body alteration fetishism), centered on the practice of eating large amounts of food. The feeder provides the gainer with an abundant supply of food, either to encourage weight gain or simply for delight in the act of feeding. The feeder is typically more dominant, while the gainer is often more submissive, although this is not always the case. The fetish caters to those who have fantasies of growing fatter, or feeding another. O'Loughlin plays the role of Michael Carter, a man who runs a website where women are fed until they are unable to move or care for themselves and participates sexual acts with these women. Thompson plays the role of Detective Phillip Jackson, a veteran of cyberporn investigations who has discovered something terribly wrong is happening and is determined to find out what is hidden within the pages of the grotesque website.

I challenge anyone to try and convince me that a horror plot based on "feederism" isn't original and (lets face it) intriguing. We've been bombarded with hoards of zombies, increasingly watered down slashers and poltergeists for some time now and it's about time someone stepped up to the plate to deliver something new and original. (No pun intended). The acting in "Feed" is decent but not that great. Most notably, Alex O'Loughlin and Patrick Thompson, I read that they actually came up with the idea for the film.

This movie had left me half full because it had so much room for improvement. The ending will be unforeseen to a lot of viewers but that couldn't make up for the lost that I already encountered either way its still worth a watch.

FEED - Can you stomach it?

Described as a disturbing fetish thriller, FEED (2005) is an Australian low-budget production (directed by Brett Leonard) about a sexual subculture involving the (force) feeding of already obese women and the men who love them. They’re known as “feeders” and “gainers”. The antagonist in FEED is the American Michael Carter, a role played by Alex O’Loughlin, who also co-wrote and co-produced the movie. Michael runs a paid website on which he shares films of himself feeding such women, only he takes it a bit further: he feeds them to death, which makes him a serial killer. He attracts the attention of a Sydney cyber crime cop (played by Patrick Thompson) who himself is teetering on the edge a mental precipice after closing a tough case. As is required of all good thrillers, the cop has his own demons to battle.

I won’t reveal too much here about the rest of the plot, but will leave it at mentioning that the cop goes rogue and tracks down Michael. Although the ending is not a typical Hollywood Happy one, it will most likely surprise you. At least, it surprised me on several levels. FEED finishes up with not just one, but several nasty twists.

I was completely fascinated by this film. Yes, it has some scenes that are icky and that you don’t want to watch, but somehow can’t tear your eyes away from… like horrific traffic accidents or bloody war footage. FEED is also liberally peppered with black humor; I found myself laughing at strangely inappropriate moments. The filmmakers also make clever use of the pop songs to get their point across. There’s nothing subtle about this movie! And although Michael is the bad guy, you’ll most likely be cheering him on rather than the cop, whether you’re a fan of Alex O’Loughlin or not.

Alex is excellent in his role as a psychopath. As usual, he draws from his wide range of facial expressions and manages to show different facets of Michael with each one. Alex is not afraid to get down and dirty and has admitted in interviews that he likes to hide behind his characters, which allows him to immerse himself totally in his role and makes his portrayals true to life. Michael Carter is sharp, witty, attractive, boyishly endearing and scarily creepy all at once.

FEED improves with a second viewing. Why? Because once you’ve gotten over the initial jolt of shock, you can relax and simply enjoy Alex’s superb performance. And have a good laugh as well, because there are some really funny scenes in this movie.

I highly recommend viewing the featurette "FEED in Philadelphia" and the interview with Alex O'Loughlin first before you dig into the main feature. The background these provide will enhance your enjoyment and understanding of the movie.

A Die Hard Alex O'Loughlin Fan

You must know I am not a "horror" flick person - at all. In fact I never watch even slightly scary movies. So, I had to do some preparation before I watched this movie by watching all related interviews as well as all the extras on the DVD before I watched the movie. I also had to kind of get into the other side of movie making and acting to prepare my head so "it's only a movie" was well placed in my brain. That being said I still was pretty well grossed out by a few parts anyway, and couldn't eat anything with fat in it for a week. But it was totally worth it to watch Alex O'Loughlin ply his craft. He's a riot to watch. I've since watched it just for the love of AO.Lire l'avis complet...

"FEED IS DELICIOUS!"

I first bought FEED because Alex O'Loughlin stars in it. I was not disappointed. As always, Alex's work is outstanding, and FEED is now my favorite movie. It is a thriller, but it has the perfect amount of dark humor, and Brett Leonard's (director) use of classic pop music for the soundtrack is excellent. If you want to see a movie that is exciting, unique and funny all at the same time, buy FEED. There are different versions around the world - I now have 6 - but I would recommend that you make sure that you get the version that has all of the extras - the deleted scenes, interviews with cast and director, etc. One of my favorites in the extras is "FEED in Philly" from when Alex and the producer answered audience questions after the opening of the film in the US. I would also suggest that you listen to Alex's interview where he explains how he came up with the idea of doing a movie about "Feeders and Gainers".
I was so impressed that this movie was made on a very limited budget and in 28 days. Be sure to watch for Michael's (Alex's character) balcony leap - Alex did that stunt himself and it is quite impressive.
I will never hear the songs "Cherish" and "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" again without smiling and thinking of FEED - and to see Alex do his little dance to "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" is worth the price of the DVD all by itself! Buy this DVD and enjoy.

OMG! This movie is not worth the film it was made on.

This one is totally my own fault. I didn't read the details close enough. I am putting together a library of my favorite Actors and bought this because Alex O'Loughlin is in it. It is the most horrific movie I have ever seen. I was totally unprepared for this. It does show that Mr. O'Loughlin is a diverse actor. But somehow I do not see him as the Handsome Vampire from "Moonlight" anymore, it has kind of ruined him for me. This movie shows a dark side to peoples fetishes that should be left in the dark. I am glad to say that it is respectfully in a place it should be. My local dump.
People Please be sure to read those details closely. You will be very shocked at what is being put on film these days.
I would not recommend this movie to anyone. I am embarassed that I bought it myself.

Only for the true horror fans!!

Excellent movie - very good and unique story line, not your typical movie. It does have some very upsetting scenes, I would recommend only for those with a strong stomach.

The acting is a little wooden, script has many holes - most of which is due to bad editing. Be sure to watch the deleted scenes to fill in the blanks from the movie. But the story itself makes up for the acting and script.

If you are a fan of 'Silence of the Lambs', you will truly love this flick!!

A thought provoking stomach turner! A great horror movie!

I will have to admit my stomach turned a little, not because of the subject matter of fetishism. But because of the ending. This movie is very thought provoking on many different levels of psychology - through the dark triad of Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy - and everywhere in between. I will admit I watched this before going to bed and I felt uneasy falling asleep - in my opinion a truly great horror movie leaves an emotional impact - whether it be fear, disgust, sadness, alarm, or dis-ease. This movie provided all of these! A great movie for horror and thriller enthusiasts!Lire l'avis complet...

While this film is a challenging watch for many there is actually a pretty solid thriller at its core.
