Rent before a buy

Far Cry 2 was a decent game at first for about 1-2 missions. Then i found my self doing the same things over and over. The game has some great aspects but more were bad then good. All the missions basicly consist of you running across the whole map to kill one guy or to steal a case a diamonds only to be stabbed in the back when the mission's over. It's one of the "more" repetitive games i have played. At the end i wanted to finish the game just to get the achievements not to see what happens at the end. But lets not forget the mulitplayer..... The multiplayer in my opinion wasnt fun at all. Basicly if your low level it's gonna be awhile before you get anything good. You spawn just to get blown up by a grenade launcher thats 1 hit kill. But the funnest part for me was the map making. Its halo's forge but alot better. You can do just about anything.
Overall the game has some decent aspects but mostly negative ones. I would highly suggest renting this not buying it.

Also if your an achivment hunter you can get about 500gp its you play your cards right durning the campaign.Lire l'avis complet...

The survival of the fittest game!!

This game takes skill to play, not easy. I love the scenery in this game and how you can drive any car to anywhere you want. I do not like the heavy forest vegetation in this game, it gets in the way of you viewing to shoot and kill the bad guys. I do not like some of the weapons in the game, some or old and they jam. Far Cry 2 offers mass destruction for the budding merc.

This game starts out with a long intro that let's you in on the backstory of the area you're about to be unleashed upon, and your target, the weapons dealer known as 'The Jackal.' Other than this one boring part, the game let's you make all the action you need and more. The missions are straight forward and let you decide how to go about accomplishing them. With the "buddies" you gain during the game, you're allowed to add an extra goal onto your missions to gain upgrades to your safehouses, and become better acquainted with these new buddies.

The supurb voice acting and graphic realism draw you into the story. Adding to the realism is the fact that your weapons degrade over time and occasionaly jam, as well as detonate if they deteriorate beyond a certain point. As a side note: having your AK-47 explode in the middle of a fight is much more unnerving than a simple weapons jam. Payment in the game is in the form of diamonds, rough, uncut, and worth their weight in blood, you will use them to upgrade your weapons, buy new ones, and even speed repairs on vehicles you can access. The only unrealistic point of the game is that all vehicles in the game are unlocked and apparently have the keys in the ignition, but otherwise it's a very engrossing game and has alot to offer.Lire l'avis complet...

Amazing Game

This is a magnificent game with great playability. You can play from a choice of 9 characters who you will know by there hands, arms, tattoos, and gloves. You play in Africa, which is a great setting to enjoy some firefights. The weapons handle and are great, but the enemies in my opinion take a little to long to die. You have the choice to go through the game stealthy and kill with a sniper, or run in guns blazing for some hardcore shooter action. You have lots of new weapons from the original Far Cry, and it completely ditches the 'superhuman' aspect of the first. One new weapon is the flamethrower, where you can, well, throw flames. The fire affects are superb. Weather you shoot a gas tank or light the grass on fire with a FT, the fire burns the grass and moves, depending on weather affects. That is my next point, the weather. It is great. There is a day/night, rain/shine, and wind/no wind cycle. This really can affect gameplay to your advantage or disadvantage. Advantage because you can flame one building and have it spread through the village, but disadvantage when trying to snipe someone a mile away, the bullet tends to swerve. All in all, if you like non linear shooters, with great gameplay, good acting, free roam ability, and tons of weapons to blow stuff up, this is for you!Lire l'avis complet...

Lytmare's Far Cry 2 Review.

I love almost everything about this game!
The deserts, jungles, towns and lakes are all very pretty and transition well from one to another.
The graphics are top notch.
The voice acting is great, yet sometimes they talk a little fast.
Having a backup buddy is a very nice touch, who doesn't like a second chance?
Also the gun play and AI are just as they should be.

The only things I find a little frustrating is that there is hardly any storyline whatsoever. things will happen that help your objective, but thats all this game has, objectives.
And after wiping out a checkpoint village, the baddies will appear again a couple of minutes later. fighting the same baddies over and over gets a little old!
The game has stealth, but it has not improved much from the first game!

I say, rent it if you want, but I just turned around a bought a week later...

Enjoyable for all fps veterans

This game is entertaining and takes place in a large open African savannah which allows the player to reach objectives any way they want. Great graphics and gunplay, even if it does get a bit repetitive after a while. Good content for the price.Lire l'avis complet...

The good old days!

Today video games can be so complicated. Far cry is a minimalistic, sandbox, first person shooter with a beautiful African landscape, tons of weapons to experiment with and lots of different approaches to missions which is a breath of fresh air for me. Good Game!

This game is just like GTA 4

You can go anywhere you want, and do anything you want. One of the coolest things about this game is you can start everything on fire. Not only can you start stuff on fire but it stays on fire and spreads. On top of that there are so many weapons to blow the bad guys up with.

One downside is that the map is so huge that it takes a good 15 - 30min to get to where you want to go.

Still holds up a decade later
