DRemake of a Walt Disney Favorite.

IN 1940, Walt Disney's vision of animation and classical music came to life. Unfortunately, the average patron of Disneys animated films did not imbrance the Fantasia movie. Kids were restless, and their parents were disappointed. Move forward to the 90s, and Roy Disney and crew were able to update the film. The sound in 5.1 home stereo, is great, and after watching the making of the film clip, it made the film really enjoyable. My copy is a used copy, and for less that 4.00, I will enjoy the film from time to time.Lire l'avis complet...

Fantasia 2000

I liked the music because it was beautiful. The pictures were clear and so colorful. I would recommend it to people who love to listen to music. The movie was also funny and sad in all the different musical selections and pictures. The movie had vivid pictures and exciting music. The only bad part was I didn't have access to the bonus features of the movie. Overall, this movie is a great one that you should buy!Lire l'avis complet...

Fantasia 2000

I really like my dvd. I am a music teacher. I teach music pre-k through 8th grade. I use Fantasia as a fun way to learn about classical music and composers. I was very frustrated with the VHS form of Fantasia because I could never que it up to the right composer and or theme. With the dvd, however, the music and subject is readily available. This saves me a lot of time and preserves interest of my students.

I really appreciated the information that was enclosed in the dvd. It has added to the presentations for my classes. So thank you.

Wonderful Music Famous Celebrities help survive this

This DVD fails in comparison to the original. This DVD focuses on the process of combining the animation to the music. The original Fantasia focuses on (1)Absolute Music (2)Music that Paints a Picture and (3)Music that tells a Story. The modern Fantasia seemed rushed, from the animation to the timing of the music to the animation. Honestly, the use of big name celebrities does not make this Fantasia worth it's name because the essense of the music and the art is overlooked. The music performance is LOUD. Why use only one movement on Beethoven's 5th? The commentary focuses on the creation of the animation rather than the music. Fantasia was about making the music come alive through art. Fantasia 2000 seems to be about animation and using music in the background.Lire l'avis complet...

Another Chapter in Disney History

While nothing can touch the iconic original Fantasia, this lovely sequel captures the joy of the classical music and the beauty of some really extraordinary animation. I purchased this DVD to ensure that my grandchildren would have a copy that they could watch as they are in love with some of the similar though not as elaborate Baby videos that utilize the same premise. These pieces of cinema art are a welcome change from videos that sell characters and frantic activity. What better way to introduce children to the world of great music. The DVD also incorporates the Sorcerer's Apprentice from the original. Well worth having and enjoying with the next generation.Lire l'avis complet...

Fantasia 2000 - On Par with Original Fantasia. A+

Fantasia 2000 is a classic Disney film based on the original Fantasia movie and was first realeased to IMAX theaters on December 31, 1999, and later to regular theatres in June 2000. The film uses a similar format to Walt Disney's 1940 Fantasia - visualizing classical music compositions with various forms of animation.

Fantasia 2000 is beautiful - revamping the graphics, the music and visuals of the also beautiful Fantasia. Both DVDs are essentials to any Disney collector or DVD collector. Fantasia 2000 looks amazing on big screen TVs or a home theater system with some powerful sound!

The music is performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and conducted by James Levine. The composers and their works, in the order they are used in the film, are:

* Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony No. 5 (abstract patterns resembling butterflies)
* Ottorino Respighi - Pines of Rome (frolicking humpback whales)
* George Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue (an episode of New York City 1930s-era scenes drawn in the style of Al Hirschfeld)
* Dmitri Shostakovich - Piano Concerto No. 2: Allegro (a portrayal of the Hans Christian Andersen tale The Steadfast Tin Soldier)
* Camille Saint-Saëns - The Carnival of the Animals: Finale (a flock of flamingos, one with a yo-yo)
* Paul Dukas - The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Mickey Mouse, from the original Fantasia)
* Edward Elgar - Pomp and Circumstance Marches (The story of Noah's Ark, with Donald Duck as a first mate to Noah)
* Igor Stravinsky - The Firebird. The story of a spring sprite and her companion Elk.

Fantasia 2

I loved the first one, and I love the second. I understand Walt Disney wanted to keep fantasia running constantly with small changes each time, but since that didn't happen, why include an old short? Why not make a new one?Lire l'avis complet...

One of my childhood favorites

I remember when my mom sent me a birthday card on my 7th birthday and she said that we're going to see Fantasia 2000. I saw it three times in theaters and I love the film to this day, along with the original.Lire l'avis complet...

Optical & Musical Candy!

I bought Fantasia 2000 because I loved the original Fantasia so much. This full length feature Disney classic does not have any one particular story line, or words for that matter. This would not be a good movie to hold a four year old's attention, however it IS a great movie for babies because it's so visually stimulating. I also love to put this movie on as a background for parties. I would easily rate this movie 5 out of 5 stars because of the utter beauty of the scenes and the classical music.Lire l'avis complet...

A Superior Sequel

The second of the Disney Fantasia movies, this one is far more compelling than the first on several levels. First, the music is more interesting than the music selected for the first Fantasia movie. There are more well known pieces in this movie, and they are often pared down to lengths that keep the attention of even my young children.

The imagery is also superior in this one with each piece telling a short story that is compelling. My 4 year old daughter loves the story about the whales that occurs during Respighi's "Pines of Rome," and is always happy when the baby whale reconnects with its parents.

In short, this is a great DVD which gets a good amount of play time in our home.
