Exquisite Corpse

This book was a good corollary after reading Steven Hodel's two books, The Black Dahlia Avenger and Most Evil. The Exquisite Corpse book really gives you an insight into the mindset of Dr. George Hill Hodel who I think really was a serial killer as well as a doctor and the Hollywood set and other people who were interested in the Surreal art scene and the Marquis de Sade. Although most people who liked Surrealistic art were not serial killers and never would have acted out their fantasies and misogynistic ideas, some would and did. You need to read the book to find out what the "Exquisite Corpse" is because it is a kind of sick game. I bought this book because I was interested in the art that served to spur and twist or feed the fantasies of Dr. George Hill Hodel, the Hollywood set and others, in order to kind of see what makes these people "tick". Why were they so misogynistic? Did they really hate women or love them or both at once, etc. The art is displayed as it relates to Dr. George Hill Hodel and the people he hung around with at the time. Some plates are in color and some are not. Some are works of art, paintings, sculptures and others are photographs. It is a well written book. This is not a book for teenagers or children! The images of these artists is really disturbing and it often takes a strong stomach NOT to mention the real life photographs of Elizabeth Short's (the Black Dahlia's) dismembered body! If you don't like nudity, pictures of women dissected or art that is similar to that you won't be able to stomach reading this book. Be forewarned. If you like real life murder mysteries and murder scenes and macabre art then this book might be for you.Lire l'avis complet...

A wonderful collector item for any Black Dahlia Enthusiast!

This is a wonderful book to have for any black dahlia collector. There are plenty of explanations along with images that hypothesize on how surrealism played a huge role in the murder of "Beth Short".
