Happy to have but not worth the effort !

As a happy Dymo Label Writer user for years Dymo was my obvious choice when needing a large label printer. I bought this printer because it specifically said it would work with Windows XP, but after installing the software it would not work..Tech support explained that it would not work but gave me a program to download that would make it work..After the download the new printer worked but my existing Dymo program got all messed up and is still to this day.. This printer saves me time, and for the most part works fine.. I can not get it to print crisp and black like all my others did and do. The corruption of my existing files by tech support definitely wasn't worth it !! When going to tear off a label, the slot is too close to the desk to tear it , so I had to put a block under it in order to get the label out efficiently. Lire l'avis complet...

My used one is 3 years old still works fine most of the time.

I used Zebra before for my work and some other printer I don't remember the name of. I started selling products online needed a label printer. My friend who does eCommerce also recommended DYMO LabelWriter 4XL. These printers are high printed since you save so much money and time from buying INK. The software works fine. The only issue is if you use screenshots and try to print a label this way. It might not be super clear. If a website you use for mailing gives you a sideways label. That should be on an 8 1/2 " x 11" paper. There don't have a way to change the size to 4" x 6" and just the label. Then you have to screenshot and crop the label. That can be an issue a lot of people have an issue with. The screenshot software for DYMO doesn't work all that well. This is something to think about.

Pros: works will 98% of the time. (depending on the labels you use!)
If you use non DYMO labels they might be fine or they might not.
Don't have to pay for Ink.

Cons: If you use non DYMO labels, Sometimes it will keep feeding labels.
Sometimes it will not print straight.

Piece of Junk

This looked like a brand new label printer when I took it out of the box, but I have never been able to get it to feed the labels correctly. It just keeps spitting them through and wasting 20 or so labels at a time and will not stop no matter what I do. After 2 months, I have finally given up. Frustrated that I wasted my money. I won't buy another Dymo product, that's for sure, and I'll purchase the next one in a retail store. I wasted my money. Lire l'avis complet...

A fine label printer that needs to be easier to use...

This expensive label printer works just fine, once you figure out how to use it. The manual that comes with the LabeWriter 4XL is not good enough to instruct the user. No real software shipping applications come with it. The drivers and general label printing application need to be downloaded and work just like other DYMO LabelWriters. I use USPS Click-and-Ship on-line. The images have to be edited to be able to print on the 4XL. I use MAC OSX 10.12.6 Sierra. You might find this device easier to use with a Windows PC. Meanwhile I can print labels much faster using Avery Shipping Labels (2 per sheet) on my laser printer... I remain disappointed.Lire l'avis complet...

Still having trouble

I've not had time to mess with figuring out the why's but the printer won't print full size and fit on the label. The print size is fine but it is off center causing parts of the label to be out of bounds. By changing the label size to 93% I can get it to all be on the label with dead space at the bottom and right side. I assume I'll eventually find the fix. But this is not saving the time I had hoped for.

On the positive side...it prints clear and crisp. Labels are feeding fine. I do like not having to use packing tape for labels and whole sheets of paper for time I only print one. Also not using up my printing ink is nice too.

Online Documentation could be better

The Dymo LabelWriter 4XL is easy to setup and use. calibration was a different issue. Labels didn't print as expected and online documentation was not much help. In the end I played with a live label and made adjustments until i found the desired result. I like it and would highly recommend it, just be ready to tinker with it till it is just right.Lire l'avis complet...

Takes Patience

First off I couldn't get the size correct. And I quickly discovered this is has to be in Landscape, although it doesn't look that way. I contacted the manufacturer which told me they couldn't help me, it was all E-Bay. I checked for on-line help and it seems this device works great with specific browsers, like Chrome, but needs tweaking with Firefox. I had to go into the set-up and change all the margins to zero to get a full 4X6 address label.

The printing is not as dark as my inkjet. I don't see any adjustment for that. Also I have stopped ripping off the label when it comes out as you can leave a small piece of label bare which can stick to the roller and really mess things up. I had to take the unit apart and force the stuck partial label off-twice. I now let it print out and then peel the label off, leaving one piece hanging.

Once the label maker has me trained, I think it may work out fine. It is still cheaper than buying ink, but it is poorly designed with ineffective software interface. There has to be something better at this price.

Great machine takes a little bit to set up

I love it! I bought a used one and it works flawlessly. It took some work and a few google searches to get the labels to print out right. But once it's set up, it works great! Fast and easy. I'm using generic labels and they work great. no Issues.Lire l'avis complet...

If you are even a moderate shipper this thing will save you in every way

Have been shipping using labels printed on standard 8.5" x 11" paper and adhering with tape for some time. Thought this purchase would be extravagant, but helpful. I was wrong. It is AMAZING. In what I am saving on tape, paper and ink I imagine it will pay for itself in no time - and that doesn't factor in the time.

Love it.

Speeding up the shipping process

This Dymo LabelWriter 4XL Thermal Label Printer has lived up to the hype.
Pros: Speedy creation of shipping labels; Set up was relatively easy; compact size; money saver
Cons: Print could be a bit darker (although there may be a setting to change this that I don't know about); need to select the label size every time we print a label
Overall 4 star rating. Much more cost and time efficient than our old process. Highly recommend for anyone who prints a lot of shipping labels.
