DEATH MASKS - A Review by a Dresden Files fan
I discovered the series on the Dresden Files when I accidentally found the Dresden Files on the cable sci-fi channel. I was quickly hooked, and kept waiting for more. Then my daughter told me the tv series was based on books. A friend of mine collects and sells sci-fi books, and he sold me all of the Dresden books in his collection; since then I have been buying the rest online.
Jim Butcher just gets better with each release in his Dresden Files series. An author of a book series once told me it is really difficult to continue to develop the characters and remain consistent throughout the series. Butcher is a master at that. Old characters re-appear, and Butcher seamlessly weaves events from previous books into the current one - new readers play catchup quickly, and series readers continue to watch the plot unfold for characters that were left hanging in earlier novels.
Death Masks (Book Five) follows nicely on Summer Knights (Bk 4) and leads into Summer Knights (Book 6).
As a minister I like the way he moves easily between magic and religion. In this book we encounter the Shroud of Turin, a Christian relic that, in Butcher's world of Harry Dresden has strong supernatural powers, which can be used for good or evil.
Perhaps the biggest shock that awaits the reader, in regards to Harry's character, will come in the next book, Blood Rites. But I won't tell.Lire l'avis complet...

Harry Does It Again!
The first time I bought the first CD book featuring Harry Dresden I knew I was hooked - as I am on the TV show. While things are changed on the TV show versus the book, both are enjoyable. Unlike the first reviewer, however, I like the TV version of Harry. Paul Blackthorne does a great job, just like James Marsters did on the CDs. I kind of combine the two in my mind when reading the books and I end up enjoying my reading even more. Great escapism.Lire l'avis complet...
Great Read
The book itself is a standard paperback, nothing worse or better than any other paperback.
The content however is fantastic! This is book 5 in the Dresden Files series, and the series just continues to get better and better with each new installment!Lire l'avis complet...

Dresen Files Death Masks
Jim Butcher has crafted a perfect blend of sorcery and detective in Harry Dresden. I bought the first book in the series at the start of summer and have not been able to stop reading them since then. (I am currently on the latest title.)
From first to last page it was all action and excitement. I have not come a across a series in a long while with this much pull to it. Even discounting the magic in the series they make a great mystery novel.
I could not wait to pick up the next book in the series.
If you liked the Harry POtter series then think of this as Harry Potter on steroids.Lire l'avis complet...
By and Far The Best Dresden File Book So Far!
This book was just fantastic! I have read all the previous books and enjoyed them all. But this one blew me away! There was so much going on, yet it all tied in very nicely.
Harry Dresden, Wizard for Hire, is a immesly likable guy - not as wimpy as his TV cunterpart. This book has it all, Knights of the Cross, vampires, demons, and a few other supernatural surprises.
If you have read any of Butcher's other Dresden File books, this will delight you!Lire l'avis complet...
Death Masks
This book holds lots of surprises and twists and turns. Butcher has another winner and Harry has more moves than a break dancer.
As always this book is great fun and a huge amount of entertainment for the buck.Lire l'avis complet...
The Dresden Files are great book series!
I am a big fan of the Dresden files. If you are a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and/or The Lord of the Rings, you probably will like these books.
