A genuine math classic

Forty years ago I used the second edition of Hohn's book in a college math class. When searching for a text book for an advanced, non-calculus, high school course, I found this third edition republished by Dover. It would appear that the editors at Dover know a good thing when they see it. Here's what I like about the book. It is a genuine math text book. It contains no sidebars or color clutter like most high school (and college) texts. Just the facts m'am; but with lots of good explanations and gentle nudging in the problems. What I don't like is the absence of an answer guide. This would be useful. In order to fill this gap, I am also using the much simpler book "Linear Algebra Demistified." Answers are provided for all the problems which makes it more useful for the students. The order of presentation in the two books is not exactly the same, but thus far I've been able to merge the material satisfactorily.Lire l'avis complet...
