What Happenend???
If you have another console that has a version of Doom on it,you'd probably be off with that systems version it.
This game has to have the worst framerate of all other Doom games(runs around 25 Frames per Second). The game is very choppy the whole time. The Sega Saturn's version of Doom removed all of the lighting effects, all multi-player modes, and some of the ambient music tracks causing the music to loop more often. The controls are bad,not unplayable, but bad.
Now for some of the positive things about the game. The game has both Ulitmate Doom and Doom II,so you have over 60 levels of carnage(if you can get past the slow framerate and bad controls). The 4 different difficulty levels feel really balanced(easy mode is just that and the hardest mode will make you pull your hair out).If your like me and just can't get enough Doom, even with all the problems,it's still Doom.
The Sega Saturn has better First Person Shooters out there like Hexen,Quake,Alien Trilogy,Powerstone/Exhumed.But if you can't get enough Doom and can put up with the poor framerate and bad controls, then get it.Other wise, pass.Lire l'avis complet...
Sega Saturn Doom- Fair port
Doom, one of my favorite games of all time and the Saturn, one of the most underrated systems ever coming together was quite cool.
Controls 5/5- Customizable controls for every button
Graphics 5/5- Looks somewhat better than playstation and all textures are present, lighting is OK.
Sound 5/5- Has the Playstation's soundtrack and unlike the jaguar port, the sound pitch is correct.
Gameplay 3/5- Framerate was low at times, but never unplayable. The Spectre enemy is not anywhere to be found however. People say the framerate is bad, but it is no more than is you were to play doom on a 386 w/ win95
Overall 4/5- Satisfying to play and not at all disappointing, but I really wish that GT took more time to optimize the port.Lire l'avis complet...
Doom for Sega Saturn
A game from the "Golden Age" of video gaming. Doom was one of those games that made your spine tingle and generally freaked you out. A game from one of the best franchises in video gaming history. Released on the Sega Saturn Doom is a must have for any enthusiast or collector. I played this game when it came out on the Saturn and now ten years later, it is just as fun to play. Graphics are not everything, when the gameplay and atmosphere in a game is as good as Doom!!Lire l'avis complet...
Great game at a great price.
very good port of the classic p.c. game. more levels and better quality than the super nintendo or 32x editions. Would Recommend. Also Comes with doom 2.

Graphics:
Not great at all..
Overall:
If you can get by the graphics. Than buy it.
The Sega Saturn is my favorite system. If you don't have one buy one. Some great fps are- Duke Nukem 3d, Doom, Powerslave, Alien Trilogy, Hexen, Quake, Space Hulk, Congo, ect.Lire l'avis complet...
Good game, not excellent, but still a lot of fun.
The Saturn port is definately not the best port for Doom, but it is still definately a fun game.
Definately worth playing for old times sake!
