Intermatic DT121C fits the bill!

Of all the digital timers I've ever used, this one is my favorite. It is super-simple to use, an important consideration for an old guy like me who is not all that tech-savvy. I don't have sophisticated requirements for any of my timers and this one is perfect. It has battery back-up, and features two events, which is all I need. Very easy to use.

Very simple, easy to operate, compact, battery back-up, last for years, but in their infinite wisdom, the manufacturer has discontinued this item. They replaced it with a more complicated one.
