Desperate(ly) (Seeking) Housewives

The women of Wisteria Lane drew enormous interest in the media since this adult rated TV show began airing on ABC. The story revolves around Martha Stewart-perfect Bree (Marcia Cross), who has it all, until she finds out her husband is cheating on her. Gaby (Eva Longoria) is a bored trophy wife whose predilection for shopping and clothes are the perfect decoy for her affair with the hunky teenage gardener (Jesse Metcalfe). Former career woman Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is the most stereotypical housewife, raising four kids and frustrated, and Susan (Teri Hatcher), the divorcee looking for love sees her prospects brighten with the arrival of hunky plumber Mike (James Denton), who has some desperate secrets of his own.

It is a fast and wild mix of plot and characters that made this a hit show. There are 23 episodes on this DVD set presented in widescreen format, and six of the episodes can also be viewed in "unrated, extended" versions. More fun is the five leading ladies' separate commentaries on few of their favorite scenes discussing the characters' clothes and homes, the show's appeal, casting decisions, the show's much-hyped secrets, and how naked Teri Hatcher had to be. Somewhat interesting show but not for me

I'm not really a fan. Some parts were cute but I have complaints about all the characters. I never really was one for senseless drama or drama in general. I prefer a show that I can get something out of like a moral or lesson. If I learned anything from this show, it's that I don't want the life of any of the people on this show. One of worst characters is the pedophile wife that has sex with a teenaged boy. She belongs in jail. I also don't appreciate the portrayal of the weird kid that needs help. Being weird doesn't mean you're a psychopath. He had a supportive father. I really feel like his character was unrealistic. It seems like the person who created these characters was your typical "popular" HS peaking person who graduated in the 80's or something. Get over it. HS is over. Move on. I can't believe this garbage was popular then and that there have been similar adaptations that are just as popular today. It really says what's wrong with our society. I'd really like to live long enough to see us grow passed this stage.Lire l'avis complet...

Comedy with addded reality...

I find each series is simply wonderful, at first I wanted to say. "Just A Pitch of Reality..." But, I will be wrong. Theses series has many reality moves toward real life situations. I can't wait to see series two. Well, it's time to laugh and simply be SUPRISE FURTHER!

Watching it to fit in at work...and i'm hooked!

I am the perfect example that anyone can enjoy this show. With a title like "Depereate Housewives" it seems to put alot of people off, becasue they don't believe that they can enjoy this wondeful show. Well I am here to set the record striaght. I am a 23-year-old male and Despereate Housewives has quickly become one of my top three favorite shows on the air behind Entourage and LOST.

The show is about four, sometimes five housewives and how there lives become meshed as they try to figureout the mystery behind why one of there fellow neighbors committed suicides. Beyond this mystery, each of the housewives have there own troubles at home to over come. Marcia Cross plays housewife one who has and off-again, on-again relations with her husband because he thinks she is too perfect, Felicity Huffman plays housewife two - a woman who has to deal with a husband who is never home and a home full of little monsters (also known as six and five year old boys), Eva Longoria plays housewife number three, a woman who isn't quit sure if her husband is the person she wants to spend her life with, and finally housewife number four player to perfect by Teri Hatcher is a 40-year-old woman who is recently divorced and has to take care of her 14-year-old daugter, but due to her neurotisisesy's it seems the daughter takes care of her.

I have just scratched the surface of what this show is about. During the first few episodes the show is trying to figure out what it wants to be (comedy or drama), yet it finally desided upon dramedy. The series won both the golden globe for best comedic series, but also for Teri Hatcher for best Actress (two additional actresses where nominated as well).

But what makes this series so special is the fact that it was a last chance at a career for most of the people involved. The creator was literally at the end of his ropes havn't to borrow money from his mother to write the script, and actresses Felicity Huffman and Teri Hatcher could no longer find work. I never got to watch this series on television before. I’m either on eBay or watching the latest Law & Order. Unfortunately, in August I was laid up in the hospital for a few weeks. Of course, the ONLY thing to do is lie in bed & watch TV. Lifetime network started running the Desperate Housewives series & I was able to tune in. Let me tell you, I was hooked immediately! A modern take on the 1980's series SOAP... This show is an outrageously funny look at life in Suburbia. You’ve got to admit, it’s not too far fetched. We all live next door to Bree, or how about Lynette’s darling boys? Ooh LaLa Gabriella Makes you wonder what your neighbors are up to??? My schedule here at home, doesn’t allow for much TV time, so I immediately got the 1st series DVD set here on eBay. I wasn’t even through the first four episode disc & I knew I had to get Season 2. This set is a keeper & I’m sure while I’m snowed in this winter, I’ll be watching it again. Whatever you do… Buy It On eBay! Circuit City sells these for $60.00 each. How much do you really wanna know about your neighbors?

The first season of Desperate Housewives surpassed everything else on TV at the time. Re-watching it all again was even better!! Mystery surrounds these beautiful housewives on this idealic street in this unbelievably beautiful city. The series begins with a bang, literally, when housewife Mary Alice unexpectedly commits suicide one day after completing her housework. The glamourous and sultry Gabrielle is having and affair with her teenaged gardner. Martha Stewart-esque Bree is seen as the perfect wife and mother by everyone but her own family that is. Former powerful executive Lynette is now a stay at home mom saddled with four kids under seven, including three unruly boys. Lovable klutz Susan's love life is a disaster area after her divorce from Karl and rocky relationship with Mike, who has his own mystery. Great show! Watch it again or for the first time -- great show!

The show depicts the mysteries on Wisteria Lane, an afflent suburban neighborhood on which the 5 main characters live. Season 1 begins with a murder and throughout the year we learn many interesting stories and mysteries about each person living on the street.

The show is brilliantly written and directed, so if you enjoy a light-hearted dramatic soap opera, this is perfect for you! The DVD contains bonus footage of deleted scenes and bloopers, making it especially interesting to those of us who are already captivated by the series. Fun to watch

This show has everything - friendship, rivalry, romance, breakup...

The main characters are :
- a housewife who must have everything in perfect order, but does not know what her husband and kids really think about her
- a mother struggling with the job of raising troublesome toddlers
- a wife who sticks to her husband for money, and gets other things elsewhere
- a hopelessly romantic lady looking for love, right after divorce

They all know what they want, and they want it desperately. It is fun to watch the way they set about getting it - by hook or crook.Lire l'avis complet...

Desperate Housewives Viewathon

Not a fan of the show myself (though I do appreciate much the tongue in cheek, wry levity along with witty direction) this was procured as a present to one who is and chanced to miss the first season's showing. The result was that the recipient was reported missing for days, strangely drawn to a CRT display, ignoring all the basics of life and uttering outbursts of what was determined to be, at the least, laughter. Based on the reports received, I'd say this was (or perhaps is) a jolly, smashing success which further makes me conclude that should you be the least attracted to the show, the possibility of the probability exists that you may be out of touch with the real world for several hours. And, one of the great and grand bits about a DVD of this nature, non of that silly interruption as occurs with broadcast signals. Yes indeed, the projected prognosis is: you'll have hours of fun.
