DL-102 On a Jelco SA-750D
I wanted to install a second tonearm on my Lenco GL75. I wanted true mono playback. After a lot of research and questions, for my budget, it seemed the Denon DL-102 matched to a Jelco SA-750D tonearm was the way to go. I've been using the new tonearm and cart for about a week now and really enjoying its warm, musical playback on my mono LP's. Denon DL-102 HO MC MONO transcription cartridge STEREO compliant.
User of these sole DL-102 for 8 years now, I have manage to tweak convert my SME3009 'Improved' SII tonearm into a detachable version one and consecutively heavy and heavier effective mass to meet the cartridge compliance and let it perform as it should; gracefully.
So it does requires some adjustments and settings to set this cart right. Mind you it's kind of an exotic cartridge that also really benefit from the right load, capacitance and gain. Hopefully my preamp is adjustable and the change into low capacitance shielded cables just proved right.
On a little down note to be on the fair side of things, I find that this cartridge benefits the natural dynamic of my 7" & 12" singles better than that of my 33 rpm LP's for what it's worth. But I've also always preferred my 45 as well. So I love my HO MC MONO Denon DL-102 cartridge...Lire l'avis complet...

Mono is great!!!!
This is a great cartridge to play back mono records. The stylus moves freely in all directions, therefore will not harm a stereo record. The cartridge weight is 13g so it is more suited for Ortofon arms unless you get hold of a 6g headshell to keep total weight under 20g. I am using this cartridge with SME, Ortofon and Technics EPA-100 arms with a Denon 6.1g headshell. Sound is exceptional with minimal noise. This cartridge is great for the records that are not so good in condition. I was surprised that even my VG- records played great. 7 inch singles and mono pressings, indeed sounded superb although the highs are a bit suppressed, the mids and lows are perfect.
However for NM and Mint records, the sound will be best through those detailed cartridges like V15 mark 3/4.Lire l'avis complet...

Sounds amazing. Particularly on old beat up 45s that were pretty much unlistenable on 4 other cartridges. True Mono.
