Stevie Wonder The Definitive Collection

As someone working in the music business, I appreciate the effort that went into this product. Too often we are offered "collections" on CD which have poor quality audio and an indifferent track listing. Having most of the tracks here on vinyl, I thought I'd try the re-mastered work, as I had just been to see Stevie Wonder in concert. The track listing will please most fans, as it is a balance of great tracks from throughout Stevie's career. The majority of favourites are here, and with a back catalogue as broad as Stevie Wonder's, some good stuff just has to be left out! I wish I could say the same for most other acts. What impressed me most was the detail and richness of the sound, far better in most respects than the original vinyl record releases, although I do appreciate that some old records do have a certain "sound" that many prefer. This is more like what the engineers at Motown must have heard before the mastering process took place. I am happy with the records in my rack and the CD in the car, as I like both sounds. Perfect! Overall, a superb collection of tracks that sound as fresh and lively as they did when they were recorded. Its honestly worth buying it just to hear the mid-1960s songs recorded at "Hitsville USA" (the original Motown studio) in their full glory. Ten out of ten!Lire l'avis complet...

A bad version of a great artist.

The CD does not display the titles of the songs when played which is odd in this day and age. Also, the volume is a bit low. The songs are great for the most part. Some I had never heard though.

Buy the early albums!

When will I ever learn? Rather than buy Inervisions,Talking book etc I go for Stevie Wonder the definitive collection.38 tracks by Mr Wonder,including such horrors as Ebony and Ivory,I Just Called etc,only to be expected I hear you cry.True mes amie,what I did not expect were the gut churning ear assaulting cover versions of some fine songs,and several really bad songs.His light,airy,uncluttered,style does not translate to slower more bluesy songs.People if you don't have any Stevie Wonder listen to the early works and enjoy,there are some gems performed with a style all of his own.Lire l'avis complet...
