Terrific early WHITE STRIPES, awesome guitar work!

I've been a WHITE STRIPES fan for a few years now (after they hit it big I admit), so I didn't know what to expect from DE STIJL, one of their first releases. I found DE STIJL to be a real treat with truly incredible guitar work by Jack White, showing his versatility and influences (HINT: If you're a Jimmy Page fan, you'll dig this release!). Some of my favs on the Cd include "You're Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl)," "I'm Pound To Pack It Up" & "Sister, Do You Know My Name?". Jack White's guitar playing on this Cd is simply superb, a really pleasant surprise. Basically, if you are a new WHITE STRIPES fan, then have no qualms about going back into their catalog a little bit and picking up DE STIJL, you'll love it! And if you're an old WHITE STRIPES fan (from their independent days), then you should already have DE STIJL in your collection...if not, shame on you! LOL! Definitely one of their best titles...a MUST HAVE!!

I've got 6 of the White Stripe albums and this album is one of my two favorites! The guitar on these tracks is absolutely fantastic. Specifically, Jack White's cover of Death Letter is superb...I can listen to this track over and over. There is really just one track I don't care for, "You're Southern Can Is Mine", which is thankfully at the end of the CD. This is one that stays in my CD changer all the time!

The good: Great Guitar and good arrangement. Great listen all the way through until the last track.

The bad: Not a great song at the end, but that's like complaining about cheap floor mats in a solid gold Ferrari...

Awesome album

I have just started listening to The White Stripes. I have to admit I really like this one. I like them all but there is just something about this one that makes it my favorite. I can't belive Meg & Jack put out this much music by themselves. It's amazing! ! I listen to it everyday taking my daughter to school. Love it!!Lire l'avis complet...

Before this album i had never heard a anything that was not recently done by the white stripes. After hearing this i like them so much more than i already did!! ABSOLUTELY MINDBLOWING!
