Brought some old albums back to life

I have owned MC carts before but the Denon is all they say it is. High end is very clear but not too bright like some other carts.Bass is deep and tight . I'm hearing things on albums I know well that I have never heard before. This cart even plays beat up albums well. Just get it already.

For those of us not able (or willing) to spend stupid money on MC cartridges costing thousands of dollars this classic is just perfect. It sounds like you want it to sound. Fits very well on my Technics 1600 & 1900 and despite a slight hum even my entry level Fluance RT81 had this thing singing (the Fluance tonearm just not quite up for the task of a MC). On my other tables it's clear, precise, dynamic a spits out a very believable soundstage. Highly recommended.Lire l'avis complet...

Built from the ground up for SOUND; not a science experiment.

Designed by Nippon Columbia Broadcasting (DENON) in the days when DJs actually played vinyl records in radio stations. DENON asked the DJs what they wanted in a phonograph cartridge. Right out of the box they said, "Forget about the fancy elliptical stylus, they sound like monkey puke. Give us a ROUND stylus and a soft cantilever. That's what has the best sound, regardless of what the so-called scientists tell you. Ask anyone who has a Stanton 681A cartridge. They will tell you their ROUND stylus Stanton cartridge eats up elliptical cartridges and spits them out. Science is just fine, but we are in the SOUND business. And that means a soft cantilever and a round stylus."

And so, DENON created the DL-103. It has a soft metal cantilever that has virtually NO resonance, and a round stylus, just like the DJ's said they wanted. It was an overnight sensation. Everyone in Japan bought one. By the time the US Soldiers were leaving the Vietnam War, every US soldier went into a stereo shop in Japan and asked the salesman what the best "record player" was. "Simple, GI, get a Denon DP-3000, any tonearm that looks good to you, and a Denon DL-103 needle. You will have to turn the volume up louder than you are used to, but the sound will kick your FANNY. Great value LOMC Carty

I haven't compared to any other MC cartridges, only a handful of MM carts. While they all have their own unique sound characteristics, the Denon dl-103 will not disappoint when paired with the right "moving-coil ready" phono preamp. Demon Rocks

For the money this M/C performs really well. I bought this for my daughter, and I have the R version. Both sound wonderful.

Easily outperforms my Blue Point #2. Good detail. A very nice cartridge.

Only con I can say for this is the stylus is bonded

Great price. Installed on a SME 3009. So far sounds great ! Only have about five hours on it I was told thirty to break in. Happy !

Dl-103

Not setup, and am not going to set-it-up its a spare, I have (3) dl-110 to use up first. But from what I've read it a great cartridge.
