Classic War Drama

I have been searching for this title since I saw it on cable.Clark Gable portrays a general with the problem of German Jet Fighter production against his obsolete B-17 fleet.Despite being villified for heavy losses and threatened with courtmartial,he continues attacks against the factories knowing that if they get airborne that nothing will stop them.Even his best friend eventually understands his determination and why his staff think he's a hero for taking the fight to the enemy.Once relieved of command,he dreams of seeing family and friends,but special orders come in giving him another combat assignment,once more the warhorse is back in action.With his relief finally understanding the pressure of a "Command Decision"and the mental pressure involved.One of the B-29's involved in the Korean War was named after this movie.It's on Display at the Air Force Museum in Dayton,Ohio.And was one of the last propellor driven plane to shoot down jet fighters.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent experience!

My favorite period of history centers on World War II and its aftermath, as I was a child then. Not surprising that two of my favorite motion pictures are Command Decision and Twelve O'Clock High.>Two different studios, two excellent big-name casts, both about high-level command experiences in USAAF daylight bombing.
After a long time waiting, I finally found reasonably-priced new DVDs of both - on eBay, of course!
For about a dozen years now, we buy and sell about evenly - many thanks, eBay! Gratefully, since50sLire l'avis complet...

a unique movie..

WW2 the 8th Air Force in Britain under siege for losses from day lite bombing,is on a road to end a threat of JET air power by Germany..the ME 163 and later the 262 were ahead of their time. but the allies must stop their mass production. at a cost.. leadership is scraficed to get the JOB done.. what ever the cost in B-17 crews... Billy Mitchel would be proud to know this showed a need for change.. risk mgt is what is needed...the real BS behind this and the movie 12 o'clock high was the fact even Generals can get battle fatigue..from over work...and pressure..Lire l'avis complet...

great performances by all...a picture of the USAAF 8th AF headquarters headaches...i'd say based loosely on Lemay...Gable takes no prisoners as the very straight talking K.C. Dennis who stands on his beliefs and principles like Billy Mitchell at any cost...yet it shows all sides of the argument and all have their points and great insights...one of the finest movies about world war two ever made and Gable is truely a no nonsense leader of menLire l'avis complet...

Command Decision is a classic. For true movie fans, especially
movie buffs of older movies, it's a must have. The acting, the script,
the story - is top-notch all the way.
