Good Book!
This is a rousing account of the true pathfinders of the American West. Although very brief, the mountain fur trade era was pivotal in the eventual attainment and settlement of the continental United States. Joe Meek was fortunate in meeting Frances Fuller Victor, who put together a very readable first person account of a mountaineer's life.
One note of caution, however. Do not expect every statement to be historically accurate. Meek's recollections were colored by the passing of forty years, and perhaps a tendency to accentuate his own role in events.
All things considered, I would recommend this volume as an essential part of any mountain fur trade and American western history library.Lire l'avis complet...
