VW new Beetle repair manual by Chilton

I purchased the Chilton VW New Beetle repair manual because I wanted to do more of my own repairs to the car. With today's repair costs, being able to do more of my own is a plus. I am the average mechanic, with ample hand tools. I do not own the specialized or diagnostic tools. I found the book to be very comprehensive, well laid out, and covering most repairs. It references jobs requiring special tools, and what can be done without them. I would however, have liked reference to all required parts needed to do a repair, with manufacturer part numbers. I also found that some repairs did not mention all recommended parts to be replaced. An example is changing the timing belt-while the book does of a good job of explaining the process and ample pictures, it fails to mention that VW recommends replacing several bolts removed during the job. Otherwise, I highly endorse the book as a good reference/instruction guide for someone with good mechanical ability wanting to do some of their own repairs.Lire l'avis complet...

Chilton Volkswagen 'NEW' Beetle Manual

First, I probably saved myself much grief the moment I opened the book.!!
I had intended to add a little "chip" to my Beetle (for about $15.00) but, if I had tried it, without the book, I would have fried the whole darn electrical
system, if not worse.

These are excellent manuals, & I recommend them for ANY car owner. The pictures & the text, together, really make it easy to understand the task at
hand, or the job you want to do with your vehicle.

Title is good. Will help you with maintenance repair.

Better price. Just enough for an advanced home mechanic and will give very good insight into the vehicle. Good chapter on diagnostics and troubleshooting by symptoms.
No reference or spare part number is included. All pics in b/w, paper is regular quality. For my needs, that is to keep it running well I would buy again!Lire l'avis complet...
