Children Of The Future - by Steve Miller Band. Released early
1968. This first album of Miller's is typical of 1968 rock
music; A mixture of original psychedelic rock compositions, blues music<br>rearranged by the artists, and packaged with album art that reflects
the era. Although I had only heard the album a couple of times in
the late 60's and early 70's at parties, I thought it was time to
hear it again and own it.

Although none of the songs on this album were anything close to
top chart hits, they are solid examples of psychedelic rock along
with the altered blues tunes of the era. A lot of the
compositions were designed to enhance the chemically altered
frame of mind that the artists assumed the listener was in while
listening to the album. Boz Skaggs composition "Baby's Callin'
Me Home" stands out as one that got some airplay (at least in my
area of the country), that is a nice little ballad.

The album has its share of experimental sound that is either
studio created with instruments, or created with other electronic
means, or raw ambient nature sounds that accompany the tunes.
The original compositions have interesting, if not obscure,
lyrics examining the social problems of the day are typical of
the songs of the era. Couple those facets with the highly altered
guitars, both acoustic and electric, the ample representation of
the synthesizer, electric organ, and harmonica, the editing of
one track into the other with no gaps, and Children Of The Future
is a classic example of the psychedelic era rock and roll.

Children Of The Future is a fine addition to any Steve Miller fan

First album by founding members Steve miller and boz scaggs. Great music and can still remember the first time I heard it.

This 1968 release was the very first album by the Steve Miller Band. And, by far, it's the BEST!! You can have all the top 40 drek that Miller did in later years. He would have kept me as a fan if he had continued making music like this! Buy it and listen to it. It's still as fresh as it was in 1968. Highly recommended listening.Lire l'avis complet...
