Probably the best of the Carry On movies
Carry On Up The Kyber is certainly one of the best of the Carry On series. Most of the Carry on films suffered an onslaught of criticism from critics, they actually united in praise for this one. And rightly so.
The Khaszi of Kalabar (Kenneth Williams) finds information that proves that the men of The Third Foot And Mouth regiment are not "the devils in skirts" they claim to be. He decides to bring their presence in India to an end. Sir Sidney Ruff Diamond (Sid James) finds his cushy job, and British rule in India threatened, he decides to take action against it.
Hattie Jaques and Barbara Windsor are missing from this Carry on Up the Khyber, but most of the other regulars are here as well as the great Roy Castle, in his only Carry On role and Angela Douglas (who also appeared in Carry On Cowboy (1965), Screaming (1966) and Follow That Camel (1967)).
Carry On Up The Kyber is consistently funny throughout. The script bubbles with inventive repartee and sparkling razor-sharp wit. The film boasts the best ending in any Carry On film: the gang are all keeping a British stiff upper-lip and ignoring the attack that's happening outside the building. They continue with their supper whilst the building collapses around their ears.
This is classic British comedy at its very best. Fans of the series will be delighted.
If you've never seen a Carry On movie, start here. Probably the best film of the series.Lire l'avis complet...
