Great lil camera 65X zoom "WOW"

I upgraded from my Kodak "Z 1012-IS" digital to this cannon sx60 and I am very impressed with it. It does everything I want it to plus it has RAW. The distance for the zoom is awesome 65X WOW. I think I seem my relatives on the planet Mars LOL. The stabilizer is good also. The only thing to me this doesn't have is is a touch screen which is ok for my needs. The video is great on it also . If ya need some info go to you tube type in "cannon sx60 review" and see everything for yourself. If you don't want to miss a picture and have to change lenses often this will work for you. Great price at $370 but of course you need to buy the accessories to make it a complete camera . I suggest 2 things,,, when you purchase this camera or other cameras. 1- make sure you see in the listening there is a manufacture warranty because I only had a 14 warranty and if anything goes wrong with it now I have to pay for it to get fixed . 2- I'd check out a package deal if you can afford it that the camera and accessories comes all together. Ya might save a few $$. I only purchased the camera /charger/and 1 battery and will pay more for accessories . Most important tho is the warranty and some auctions don't have a 1 year warranty. Best of luck and happy shootingLire l'avis complet...

Does everything it's designed to do!

Having owned it's predecessor the SX50, and several DSLRS, this camera is a great improvement on the SX50. It's easy to use and gives excellent image quality, though still falls short of dslr quality. But when you factor in the reach and ease of use it's a no brainer. I usually shoot in one of the PASM modes on my dslrs , but this camera gives excellent results in auto mode! And I was also surprised by it's low light image quality. Highly recommended!Lire l'avis complet...

A Bridge Camera

There are some excellent, simple, pocket-size cameras around This is NOT one. It is not close to being pocket-sized and is hefty.
If you're looking for a full option, highly technical camera, this is NOT that one, either.
It's what is called a "bridge camera," somewhere between the simplicity of an easy point and shoot and the complexity of a multiple lens, SLR camera.

It is challenging to someone like me, not a camera geek, whose prior camera was about 20 models old, a PowerShot S1 IS. The SX60, compared to the S1 IS, which is the earliest model in this particular Canon line, is much more complex and requires a steeper learning curve--IF you want to master all the camera can do for your picture taking.

The camera is still very new to me, and I've not had a lot of experience shooting in the various modes. Especially, I've not done much on the fully "Auto" mode. From what I see, the pictures are, as you'd think, a significant leap forward in detail and all else. I'll suspend judgement on the automatic aspect until my wife (who uses the camera that way) compares her pictures now to the ones she took with the early PowerShot. My fully manual and fully adjusted function pictures are, in my opinion, excellent. I can take better pictures in more lighting conditions. I get much, much better detail.

So I'm a happy camper. It's just too early to give a definitive opinion.

I think the major drawback, for me, is the amount of function that has to do with wifi connectivity and keeping up with the latest computer technology. While I'm somewhat into that, the reason I get a camera is to take pictures. My ideal would be this same camera minus a bunch of bells and whistles that have little to do with picture taking. They add to the complexity without adding to the picture taking.

Easy to take along and easy to use.

This camera is light weight and easy to use. It came with all the excessories I need. It has a very nice zoom and takes great pictures. I wanted a camera that I could pack and take with on trips and also take on nature hikes to take quality pictures. This is the camera for me. I love it.Lire l'avis complet...

Great All Purpose DSLR bridge camera with Great features

I found this DSLR bridge camera to be easy to use in auto mode right out the box. Setting up the camera the way I like it did take some time but found a copy of the user manual, which is huge, and read my way forward. Setting up the Wi-fi is not real easy but ordered the proper Canon cables, downloaded the Canon software and things fell into place. My old camera died right before Christmas so getting a camera to start quickly was a must. I compared two other cameras with similar long zoom capabilities (my search importance), Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX400V Digital Camera and Nikon COOLPIX P610 Digital Camera, and found that for the features and price Canon PowerShot SX60 HD camera was the best for me. Plus you can shoot in RAW format. Make sure to buy a high quality SD card as this camera shoots great 1080i action video and a high speed card is essential. I ordered a Canon Speedlite 270EX II flash, an HDMI cable and stereo cable for those not having HDMI to show off my pics and videos to family and while on vacation. Though still learning about ALL the features, I found a laminated cheat card that has helped not having to always look through the users manual. Can't wait to continue to explore new things to enhance my picture-taking experience.Lire l'avis complet...

Zoom capabilities can't be beat!

I purchased this camera over three years ago because I got tired of changing out different lens to capture long distant shots. The IS feature works very well so the pictures do not appear blurry.
<br>I purchased a second SX60 because my wife will be able to have a similar camera and have a backup in case something goes wrong with my older one.

This camera also has a hot shoe in case you want to use a external flash for longer distant shots in a dark area and has a 65 times zoom.

World's Smallest Heavyweight

I love this camera. I shoot professionally, and for fun, and this camera is perfect to carry with me all the time. There are so many bells and whistles, I hardly know where to start. Suffice to say, it does a ton, covers a lot of ground, and makes it all easy. My favorite feature is the insane zoom range. 65X is the equivalent of 24mm the 1350mm in traditional 35mm lenses. I recently shot a concert in Chicago from the back of the outdoor pavilion. I was able to get all-encompassing wide angle shots, and extreme close-ups of individual musicians in the orchestra. The images are not super-sharp in long telephoto range, but that's not unusual even with long-range zoom lenses for DSLR's. At 16.1 MP, the Canon SX60 will give you images that can be enlarged to remarkable dimensions, while retaining crisp, clear images. I can't imagine more fun packed in a compact, lightweight camera like this one. Canon really knocked it out of the park with this one...and caught the center fielder's disappointment, close-up, from behind home plate.Lire l'avis complet...

My Thoughts on the Canon Powershot SX60

I bought this Canon as a "second camera". Something a little more compact yet still capable of quality photos to carry along on my outings. It has become my primary camera. The zoom lens is very impressive. A photo of the moon a few nights ago produced amazing sharpness of craters. I've used it to photograph dragonflies and the sharpness of the subjects taken from 30 feet away is surprising. For the money this camera is a heck of a deal! My only negative comment is that I prefer to look through the view finder with my eye and that is not excellent- of course the flip-out led screen works great and I'm getting used to using that. For an affordable camera that produces better than expected photos I like this canon a lot.Lire l'avis complet...

Canon's awesome long-zoom SX60

After more than a year of deciding between the Canon SX60 and its successor the SX70, and watching prices on both skyrocket because of COVID-related shortages and backorders, I decided I would go with the older model. As much as anything, Canon, for reasons known only to itself, decided to drop the hot shoe on the SX70. Dumb decision, IMHO, because this advanced camera should have more flash available than just the tiny little one it comes with. This model is the flagship of the long-zoom series for Canon!

The camera arrived on time, with a battery charger, carrying case and 2 spare batteries. The case was insufficient for the camera [no side or top pockets for accessories], so I swapped it out for a case I already owned. But the camera is in great shape.

And the newer chip, at least 5 years more advanced than the last long-zoom camera I had, is spectacular! One constant problem with digital camera sensors is they tend to underexpose green plants. Particularly pines and evergreens. Rich green trees in life tend to go black with a greenish undertone. But the SX60 has a high-dynamic range setting. Two, in fact -- one for highlights, and one for shadows. By doubling or quadrupling the range available, marginal photos now look great with with out any photo editing necessary!

From what I can tell, the only thing I missed out on by not getting the SX70 was a 4K Ultra HD video instead of regular 1080p HD video. Since I rarely shoot video with my camera, this feature will not be missed.

And I have a few small quibbles. On previous cameras I owned, I could hit a button to toggle between the LCD screen on the back and the eyepiece at the top. For this camera [it wasn't readily apparent], I had to flip the LCD screen out and turn it facing inward to activate the eye-level eyepiece.

But overall, this was a great purchase. I have already taken it on an extended camping trip, taken more than 1,000 photos with it, and several hundred around the house. I am a fan.

Camera is great. Tripod is not as sturdy as I was hoping.

This is a great bundle. The camera is amazing and all the extra gadgets are nice. The flash is an off brand but it works great for general photos. The only complaint I have is the tripod is not very sturdy. I honestly bought the bundle because I wanted a tripod, but I'm not sure I would trust this tripod to hold my camera. It is made with very thin aluminium and shakes really bad. It also has a very strong chemical smell, which I think is coming from the foam on the handles but I'm not sure. Either way though the bundle is a great deal with everything else it comes with. Just know if you are wanting a solid tripod you are going to have to get a separate one.Lire l'avis complet...
