Great camera with lots of capabilities!

The T4i was the ideal camera for me to purchase. I consider myself a novice photographer, and while this camera's automatic mode is perfect for grab-and-go photos, it also has various modes available for specific types of photography (portraits, landscapes, etc.). As I develop my photographic skills, I can use its aperture or shutter priority modes for more specific shots, and it also has a manual mode as I advance with my abilities.

I downloaded the Magic Lantern software to supplement the software that already exists with the camera. I'm going to have to get used to all of the other features this camera has, and it will take me a while, but that's why I bought it – to learn and grow as a photographer.

AWESOME Camera for the money!!! You can't lose with this!!!

I have always liked the Canon camera's. And have used the other EOS Rebel cameras before. So when I saw this packaged deal it was really hard to pass up. Canon has the features everyone could want for regular photography. I mainly use it for home, family, and trips. It has enough settings to be able to take pictures in any type of contidion. Bright, dark, inside, outside, it doesn't matter this camera does it all. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good camera to use for memories, sports, nature and anything else you may want. The only draw back I have so far is the weight. It is a little heavy, especially with the bigger zoom lense on it. One of the bigest Pros is the ease of use. If you understand how to use the settings you can set it to full manual mode and go!! If you are unsure, set it to Auto and it will put the settings where they need for that condition. Taking pictures of sports. Set it to the sports mode where it will continuously take pictures until you let up on the button! The articulating screen on this is a BIG plus as well. In addtion to the touch screen which allows you to make settings right there with out any hassle!!

Bottom line if you want a great camera this is one to get.

Not a bad choice for a beginner

It arrived earlier than it said and was carefully wrapped in lots of bubble wrap. It was clean and all the parts that were pictured were included plus the UBS cord to transfer files. I'm not a photographer or anything. I purchased the camera to use primarily for Youtube. I did watch some tutorials because all the features seemed overwhelming; however, it didn't take very long to learn the basics of what I am using it for. I'm very happy with it so far. It's been a great investment!Lire l'avis complet...

Great camera for an acceptable price, highly recommended.

I am having now this camera for a month (since Dec 2012) and this is my first DSLR. I wanted a camera which would give me good quality photos of people, pieces of art (mostly paintings) and various paysage (for travelling), under limited quantity of light. T4i was one of the candidates that I analyzed for a couple of months, considering several categories that were important for me. Shown below are the categories, info and the last number 1-5 was the rate I gave this camera for each category:

Kit Lens 18-55 3;
Megapixels 18 3;
ISO 100 - 12800 3;
Articulated LCD Fully articulated 3;
Built in Flash Yes 3;
Sensor APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm) 3;
Price 600 3;
Weight 570 g (1.26 lb / 20.11 oz) 1;
Dimensions 133 x 100 x 80 mm (5.24 x 3.94 x 3.15") 1;
Remote control Yes (E3 connector, InfraRed) 2;
Total: 25 points ;

The other candidates were: CANON EOS-M, Canon G1 X, Olympus E-PL5, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1K, Sony NEX-F3K, Sony NEX-5RK, Sony NEX-7, Sony A65, Samsung NX210 and Samsung NX20. Using the same methodology they had 20-29 points. I also compared the test photos for every of those cameras on www.dpreview.com, made under different conditions (mostly different ISO, meaning different quantity of light) and concluded they were all about good enough for my needs.

The reason I finally bought T4i was that the price on E-bay went down to 600$ and I was out of patience waiting for Samsung NX20 to get available for less then 750$. I also bought remote infra red control from Photive and set of filters (UV, Polarizer and Fluorescent) from Vivitar, both working fine.

After all, I must say I am very satisfied with this purchase and would definitely recommend this camera. What surprised me is how much I like the viewfinder which is really excellent. You have to try it in order to understand its value. I also thought the weight of camera would bother me but it does not. Articulated screen is a must and I had it on my previous camera (Canon point and shoot), so that was not a surprise. In my opinion built in flash is a must as well, otherwise one loses any advantage of smaller cameras available on the market if external flash has to be carried as well. Not to mention, the pictures are of great quality as expected with this sensor size, even with this 18-55 lens which is not a favourite lens in the reviews. I experimented with several shooting modes and did not have much discrepancies between what I expected and what I got as the result. I think I bought myself a wonderfull toy for 600$ that I will enjoy using for a long time. What should be better: making videos with this lens is practically not an option, since autofocus in much noisy - but videos were not so important to me, at this moment. For videos, in future, I plan to buy STM lens, maybe 40mm prime, which should provide additional sharpness for portraits, as well, and cost just 150$. (Also planned for future purchase: external flash that would eliminate shadows when bounced or a diffuser.)

Very satisfied!

Upgraded from a T1i. Needed a camera with an external mic input. The T4i had the input and also allowed use of lenses I already had. Didn’t realize I had to use double battery adapter all the time - thought it was an optional accessory. Regardless, great camera and excellent upgrade.Lire l'avis complet...

If you've never used an DSLR before - get this one.

To be honest, I'm not a camera expert by any stretch of the imagination. I haven't used an SLR type camera since highschool art class, and that was over 10 years ago. Needless to say, I decided that it was time to make the plunge and get a digital SLR so that I could take some nice pictures and do some video recording.

My initial impressions are that the camera feels good. It's very ergonomic, and my hand molds right into it very comfortably. Whether you want to use the eyepiece or the LCD backscreen (which is flippable) you can always see what you're doing.

There are a million and one features on this camera, and I don't know what 99% of them do. If you keep the dial on "Auto" it basically picks the best options and does everything for you - effectively turning this into a point-and-shoot camera. Even with my lack of skill, I'm still able to take some really crisp shots - even in low light conditions.

I don't really have any complaints about this camera at all. It's worked perfectly for everything I've used it for. The videos that this thing records look like movie quality stuff, especially in 24 FPS. I'm just really impressed. I hope that as my skill and experience gets deeper, I will eventually figure out what half the things on the camera do.

More than I expected, trusty camera (get the 75-250mm IS lens if you can!)

The camera itself is LOVELY, exactly what I was looking for as an amateur in the DSLR world. The camera is what you would expect from a rebel: trusty, user friendly, and capable of wonderful shots if you know how to get them. However, the kit itself was not that special - telephoto is not great, the tripods are both of very low quality. However, some of the stuff in the kit (extra battery and the 32-gig memory card) are excellent to have and would cost more separately. I would definitely recommend going for the deal with the telephoto lens with Image Sbailization, it is well worth the extra $30, as the current lens I got does not have the best low light performance due to this.

All in all, I still believe it was a very good camera and I am extremely happy with the results.

Best pix I've ever taken.

So far , this camera is the best thing since sliced bread. I know a thing or two about photography, but I'm not a pro. The pic quality is outstanding. The camera is easy to get up and running in automatic mode. The flash throws a ton of light, and throws it far. The swivel touch screen is more usefull than i ever imagined. There are a gazzilion features. I have only scratched the surface. I took some pretty cool fireworks pix in manual mode on my first try. The only down side I have found so far is that the auto focus doesnt alway respond quickly in lower light situations. I have no regrets with this purchase. I highly recommend saving up your money and get one! You won't be dissapointed.Lire l'avis complet...

An all around great camera with auto features for fast action sport events

Bought camera for sport action shots - Great! I love the fact that the Canon T4i will keep the focus in view during fast action scenes. Feels a little heavy on the strap around the neck over time. Believe it is a great camera for all around easy fantastic pictures with and without a zoom.Lire l'avis complet...

Great camera, a little hard to hand hold steady but great QUALITY.

This is an amazing hand held camera with great still picture quality and pretty decent video quality. Learning all the features is time consuming, and I miss the manual zoom handle on a real video camera for following sports action as it moves up and down the ice. Framing frustration is about the only criticism. A great camera for fixed video shooting such as post game player and coaches scrums, and audio is excellent. Thank you.Lire l'avis complet...
