Very good quality pictures, fully featured "pro-sumer" still SLR camera

Excellent value if bought second hand at present ebay prices. Very good quality pictures and fully featured standard SLR camera controls as in the semi-professional "pro-[con]sumer" class, albeit no video recording. 6mp is plenty for good quality photography and in most cases I end up reducing the picture resolution or set it to "medium" anyway to fit in emails or web pages. ISO range is 100-1600, uses CF card. Highly recommended if you can buy it below 100$ with lens, or below 50$ without.Lire l'avis complet...

Canon EOS 300D Or DS6041 DSLR

First of all I can not believe that this camera was near a thousand dollars just a decade ago and now it can be had for less than fifty bux. Incredible. Although the technology has improved quite a bit since then, it hasn't reinvented the wheel and this camera is still a race car. This camera is still photos only, no video can be captured by it, unless you're doing a timelapse. The image quality is still as good as it was the day it was shipped from factory. 6 MP was big deal back then, and it's still pretty good today. All sorts of canon EF and EFS lenses can be attached to this camera, which can also be had for dirt on ebay these days. Overall, incredible camera, excellent value for money. I use it for astrophotography and it works real good for that purpose. Direct attachment to my 10" reflector telescope with an adapter. Has the ability to be plugged in directly to power, use an external flash, and shutter button. What a good deal.Lire l'avis complet...

One of Canons first DSLR's and a lot of fun.....

This CF card using camera has a simple (and I mean SIMPLE) menu and takes beautiful 6MP shots. If you don't have a big budget you can get these on EBAY for almost nothing and with a good battery and a CF card you can enjoy this camera all day long and end up with photos that are wonderful.....My three star rating is only because this is such an old model and does lack many features some people consider absolutely necessary today. Admittedly I have a much newer DSLR but this one takes me back to the good old days and is a real kick to shoot on. Lire l'avis complet...

The Perfect Starter DSLR Camera!

If ever you had an interest in professional-grade digital photography, the time to jump in is NOW. Prices have never been lower, and I've seen used cameras in the marketplace that cost over $1000 last year at this time dip to sometimes less than 50% of that original cost today. It will undoubtedly come down to whether you are a Canon person or a Nikon person. Many buyers of DSLR cameras are longtime shutterbugs that decided to migrate over from film, either to stay along the cutting edge or to replace worn equipment, and many of them are Nikon or Canon users. This review will deal with Canon's entry-level DSLR Camera, the Digital Rebel, a/k/a EOS 300D.
If you had been using a point-and-shoot compact digital camera, as I was, the feature set on this 300D is overwhelming, comparatively speaking. You have settings for the smallest detail, and believe me when I tell you, if you "tweak" the wrong setting (as I did MORE than once), the difference in both quality and exposure becomes readily apparent. Canon made it easy, though, as the owners manual is very specific describing the "best result"-type of settings for simplest possible use and best quality. The detail is breathtaking. Not quite film (nothing ever will be), but stunning nonetheless, especially compared to even the most expensive point-and-shoot digital. The stock 18-55mm lens (included in some kits and widely available on Ebay) is quite good, and could possibly be enough for you if you don't intend to shoot high-speed or sports events up close. If you choose to expand your stable of lenses, Canon has an IS series (image stabilizer) available in many of the popular focal lengths that will just about eliminate any jitter problems you may face. Good quality results, manual zoom means you are in control, and auto-focus when you press that shutter gives you the shot you want--the shot you actually see in the viewfinder is the shot you get. Many of the new point-and-shoot models do not even include a viewfinder anymore, so you have to settle for what you think you see on that tiny LCD screen. (often, NOT what you thought you were seeing). The EOS 300D lets you review immediately what you shot with it's own LCD, and you can keep it or dump it right there. The biggest adjustment for me was the "lack" of live-action results in the LCD (on this model, it is used for review of the pictures ONLY; on newer models it can be used for framing a subject, as well), but for the quality it gives you, even this entry-level DSLR stands above any point-and-shoot. For my money, it's the way to go, and it will NOT break the bank as they can be had right here on Ebay at a very affordable price. Once you see the results, you will never go back.

Old - but still takes great photos and is great for begginers.

I was tired of the lackluster results of using my cellphone as my main camera, so after doing some research I settled on the Canon 300d as a camera to mess around with. This camera obviously lacks some features found on the newer models such as using the viewfinder to take pictures, higher mega-pixels, and better ISO settings. Although these features are lacking, I still manage to take some breath taking images with this camera. As a beginner, I may not be the most educated on what this camera lacks compared to newer models, but I am very happy with the results. My only complaint is that low light pictures often turn out very blurry, but that is most likely because I don't know which settings to use in a low light environment. 10/10, would recommend and buy again.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Camera For Beginners!

I love this camera! I was scared that it would take crappy pictures because it was only 6.3 MP, but it takes excellent photos. I was very impressed with how this camera seemed to work and the quality of its photos. I bought this camera because I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but yet, I wanted a DSLR camera. I've wanted to get into photography for a while and this older version Rebel suits all my needs for a beginner. I got the camera with the 18-55 mm lens and ended up buying more lenses and such. I will continue to use this camera and maybe in a few months or years I'll buy a more updated DSLR camera when I can afford it.Lire l'avis complet...

Canon rebel 10D/300D dslr 6.3 body

Best camera for beginners or someone on a budget to get their feet wet in digital photography. As I had several FD lenses from my canon film camera I was glad camera can accommodate several types of adapters like fd- eos, M42- eos, OM- eos. It is testament to popularity of canon eos line that many adapters are available. So one can purchase other manufacturer lenses and use on the camera although only with Manual Focus and aperture priority mode or full manual mode. I also like that 3rd party offers both dual 45° or 180° split image focus screens with micro ring collar so MF focusing is a piece of cake. What I don't like is the field of view crop factor (FOVCF) of 1.6x but that is the cost tradeoff as most cameras in this class is 1.6 factor. When purchasing camera be aware of how many shot actuation of camera usage to get idea of wear. The camera registers in the picture taken cyclic numbering 0001-9999. Camera can have gone through more than one cycle if used for photo journalism (many shots taken). If cameras been through 10 cycles (~100,000 shot), I would think camera is near end of life use. I eas also able to get into using cokin P series filter ND and GND filters with these lenses along with HiTech filters to exploit more photographic avenues. Of course all the canon manuals are available online on the internet from canon so you are not left hanging. And alot of 3rd party vendors provide the battery and CF card needed by the camera.Lire l'avis complet...

Canon EOS Digital Rebel / 300D 6.3 MP Digital SLR -BODY ONLY

This is the first digital Rebel made by Canon. It has all the features of the film camera except instead of film, your photos are stored on a CF card and can be transferred onto a computer or printed. The CF card pins are known to bend which is why future models switched to SD cards. The photo quality is good with different settings for saving photos. It has connections to connect to a computer or tv to show your images. Even though the camera has newer models (Currently the T6i), this model is good for a beginner looking for an inexpensive start in digital photography. Also the camera uses all the EOS line lenses as well as the digital 18-55mm lens which comes with the camera kit.Lire l'avis complet...

Well worth the money if you wish to do your own photography shots.

I really like this camera, its one of the best I have ever had. It does take some getting used to because so many of the other camera's are point and shoot. While this one can be set up to do that, you have to read the instruction book. The quality of pictures cannot be matched for my part. It is able to use other lens for this camera which only increases the quality of your pictures. Only thing that I do not care for as much on this camera is this particular one takes a Compact Flash Memory card which does not hold as many pictures as the smaller memory cards.Lire l'avis complet...

This digital camera reduces my need to use 35mm film cameras.

It has a sufficient quality and number of pixels to make not quite perfect glossy 8" by 12" prints; which product is the entire point of photography as I see it. A 35mm camera with medium speed film can make the same product but it entails the inconveniences of film.

A 35mm camera with fine grain film can produce 12" by 18" prints with proper scanning. And a 120 film camera will make 18" by 27". The original Canon Digital Rebel is a great bargain for complementing the capabilities of good film cameras.

I enjoy everything about the handling and controls of this Rebel. But it is slow to transfer pictures by way of the usb cable. I put a 1 GB Compact Flash card in it, and would like to not continually remove and reinsert it.
