Great camera from Cannon. Long in the tooth now but still excellent

I am a professional photographer (http://www.andrew-miller.co.uk) and required a backup body as an emergency whilst one of my own backups was being repaired. I have used the 40D in the past and consider it to be excellent value for money.

The screen is a little soft on the back; but that is more to do with the cameras age. Overall it is an excellent camera. The crop sensor takes some getting used to after using full size but to be honest it also offers me that bit extra range on my 70-200mm!! The high speed shoot mode is also excellent - great for confetti shots and the first kiss.

File size is good; you will be able to use a 8Gb card all day no problem

I was intending to sell the body on but am now going to keep it. It is a cheaper alternative to the 50D or the 7D for a back up and is a fantastic entry model for anyone wanting to get into the world of DSLR without paying a fortune.

Canons best at an affordable price!

Probably Canon's finest DSLR in terms of build quality, image quality, reliability and value for money. A proper metal body, unlike the later plastic offerings, means solid durability, a wide range of shooting modes from full auto (point and shoot!) to fully programmable and adjustable settings. A clear viewing screen, good weatherproofing, 10.1 megapixels may not be as much as some later offerings but is sufficient for even professional use, use good quality lenses and the photo's produced cannot be beaten. A little used one (body only) for about £350 represents amazing value compared to the cost when new and whats available in the marketplace now!Lire l'avis complet...

fantastic camera alot for your money

after having the canon 400d, i thought is was about time to upgrade, keeping in the canon brand, which i think they are the best, i have used others, but always came back to canon. i looked at the D60, and the others with higher speck, but the canon 40D came up trumps, because of the faster shutter speed, and with out the video, which i did not need as i have a video camcorder. having now used the 40D to me its a great camera, good photos, easy to use the controls, find them alot quicker to navigate. just love it.Lire l'avis complet...

WELL PLEASED - TOP QUALITY PRODUCT.

I bought the Canon 40D because I had previously owned a 30D.
The 40D has a "live view" facility which is very useful.
The quality is as always excellent - any Canon product I have owned has been top class.

Good in low light - V.G.I. (Gold star)

Comfortable weight, not too fussy with controls - though the little joystick could have been made better! Display screen/menu access is good. Capture’s very good images in low light and has excellent bracketing controls + flash comp.

Typical Canon quality and a joy to use.

The Canon 40D has been on my wanted list for ages. I have used a variety of Canon cameras ie. 350D,400D,55OD and the 600D and although I rate those cameras very highly the 40D has a different feel to it, probably because it is built to withstand professional use. i recently upgrade my 400d to 40d and i have experienced the difference as it does provide better pictures. i like the camera because its ease of use and more user friendly interface.

Fantastic item (I love it)

excellant item so much to learn, but thats why i bought a semi pro camera.the camera is just the starting point now i have got to get into buying lenses!!!
