Canon EOS 30D

This SLR is dated by today's standards but still a solid choice. Great price point at about 10% of the new value. Very clean examples appear occasionally. The 30D is a mid range SLR and has many professional features. It requires a little education to begin to use all that it is capable of but you can grow into the features. Of course you can always leave it on Auto. At 8 megapixels it has plenty of resolution to make 8.5 x 11 prints.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome

We bought this for my son, who is taking his first photography class. He absolutely loves it. This is a much nicer camera, even as old as it is, than many of the newer cameras some of the other students in his class have that are brand new. This camera does so much more, and is perfect for any photography class or projects that require a digital DSLR camera. Because it takes the old style memory cards, we bought a card reader for about $15 so we can still use the old memory cards and still put them on the computer with no problems. I can't say enough great things about the product, the awesome deal, and the seller. All amazing!Lire l'avis complet...

Easy to use, top notch photos

This is my 3rd Canon, I still use all 3 for different situations.....frankly, the 30D is my favorite for ease of use over the 5D and 7D......you will pay alot more for the newer Canon versions, while a used 30D can be had for peanuts.......if you don't have high end professional needs, don't blow alot of coin until you learn on the "lesser" 30D and you will save enough to buy a great lens, which is more important with respect to equipment.....get a lens with image stabilization, a tripod and consume the manual.....there are some great online training programs that you should use to bring it all together.....'nuf said.Lire l'avis complet...

This is ONE FINE CAMERA !!!

Hi Folks, I wanted a Canon 30D years ago when it was Canon's 'main line' camera. But to be very honest my budget just would not allow it. As years went by Canon produced several other DSLR's all great with the usual Canon quality, and stopped making the 30D.

For me however, I was always impressed with the 'user-friendliness' of the 30D even though it was considered a 'near PRO-level camera'. And after having read literally hundreds of reviews I NEVER gave-in to the HUGE mega-pixel fixation. I learned that other things like the PROCESSOR-and - THE LENSES are equally important. The 30D has 8.2 megapixels, but as a result of Canon's superb CMOS processor the photos are vibrant, crisp and wonderfully 'life like'. And, speaking of lenses, when I bought the camera I invested in a Canon 50mm 1.8..or as folks call it..a nifty fifty. The lens was incredibly cheap..under $100 and takes just fantastic photos !!! Also, not being AF..YOU have to move around the subject and find the best composure angle. I think that helps makes one a better photographer.

I am strictly an amateur..but the 30D has taught me so much about photography with all of the available features of the camera.,which incidentally you can access via the INCREDIBLY SIMPLE MENU.. that you can reach via the Scrolling Wheel on the back. Its' Wonderful. Don't get me wrong there are dozens and dozens of fine cameras out there., but for me the 30D with it's combination of user-friendliness,professional build quality and Canon reputation just made it the one for me. I just LOVE IT.

=CANON 30D=

I love this Canon 30D. I bought it used and haven't had a single issue. It came in excellent condition and I got a fair price on it as well. Its perfect for me and what I'm doing. Its a larger sized camera, so its perfect for my large hands. The Canon Rebel series, are a great camera, but way to small for me. I even bought a battery grip for the Rebel and it was still a little to small. And since its a smaller size, the buttons are small and close together. The 30D is an excellent camera with tons of features. I love the 2.5" LCD screen and the top LCD display. Also, the turn-style dial, makes for easy, fast viewing of already taken shots and scrolling thru the menus quickly. I also bought a battery grip for this camera. Highly recommended, especially if you are out and away all day. It holds 2 battery packs. All in all, a great camera and purchase, here on eBay. Have fun bargain shopping out there, I do.

Canon EOS 30D

Beautifully made, titanium frame I believe. Stainless steel lens mount, very solid control knobs and buttons. Having previous experience with Canon CMOS sensors and other DSLRs to compare, I find the quality and depth of photos with this camera to have a slight edge, particularly in low and available light work. Seems to have a quality for landscapes that I can't get with other sensor types also (IMO). As other reviews state, the extended ISO speeds are actually usable even out to 3200. I have taken night shots that are impossible with anything else except active electronic night vision cameras. Amazing. This camera gives a sense of security when hand-held, due to its quality construction and comfortable design. The viewfinder is OK (not as bright as I'd like), the rear LCD is clear and easy to menu through. At this LCD resolution I can zoom in to review and actually tell if photo is focused properly. Don't mean to sound like a Canon commercial, but even without IS lenses I will take shots I wouldn't attempt with anything else due to the high ISO capabilities. A larger DSLR than some, but even with my medium-sized paws I tend to go for this one over my smaller digicams because it is such a comfortable camera to work with. Enough said.Lire l'avis complet...

Canon 30D Camera

I would say if you are getting into photography and want a good camera to start off with, get the Canon 30D. It's easy to use. Don't be fooled by the buttons. Read the manual!!! But basically it's just a matter of technique. It's a solid camera, using a Compact Flash (CF) card. Cleaning it is very simple. And the on screen display, is very easy & comfortable to navigate through.

This camera can use the higher L-series line of Canon lenses, too. A huge plus. It can work with studio equipment or on it's own.

If you are considering obtaining the battery pack, make sure your tripod can handle the extra weight.

If you are new to photography, you can't go wrong with this camera. For it's current online cost (used) you will be happy with the results.

Outstanding Performance in Classic DSLR

The Canon 30D is an outstanding example of classic DSLR capability. The 8.2mp Canon CMOS sensor does an outstanding job, especially in low light conditions. Newer cameras have added features and more mp, but can't deliver better picture quality. Shooting at 1600 ISO enables high quality photography in conditions that at first do not look possible. This camera has a cast magnesium body with a feel that cannot be delivered with an all composite camera. These cameras are a great bargain. They are so inexpensive that you can easily add one as a backup. And you may discover that in certain conditions, your backup becomes your go to shooter.Lire l'avis complet...

30D review

This model is no longer produced by Canon and it gives the suggestion that it is outdated. Not the case. While it might not have all the bells and whistles; it provides all the basic and custom features which a semi pro needs. Yes it is 8 megapixels but fi have found it more than adequate for 8x11 prints. Professional developers have repeatedly assured me that I could get photos developed at even larger sizes with great resolution. So how much do you need. Is the question you need to answer for yourself. I for me ; 20 megapexils is overlkillLire l'avis complet...

Skip the entry level cameras, the mid-range 30D is far superior.

On paper, jumping from the 8 megapixel Rebel XT seems like a minor upgrade until you get the 30D in your hands. The weight of the magnesium alloy body feels far more substantial than the polycarbonate body of the Rebel. The buttons and dials are solid and tight, yet smooth to operate. The layout of the controls is logical, ergonomic and intuitive as with any camera from the EOS line. Bring the viewfinder to you eye and you are greeted with a fast and accurate 9-point AF. Press the shutter release the shutter makes a solid-sounding thud, suggesting a heavy duty shutter rated for 100,000 actuations. The addition of the joystick makes zooming and photo reviews easy and impressive on large 2.5 LCD screen. The image quality is excellent, with a moderate amount of sharpening and very little noise at 400 ISO. Overall, if the lack of video is of no concern to you, pick up a 20D, 30D, 40D or any mid-range Canon DSLR instead of the entry-level Rebel. The quality of photos are incredible and process of photo taking is pleasing and results are predictably good.Lire l'avis complet...
