for those who love tales of chivalry, courage, destiny, the strengths and failings of the human heart. for any who long for those tales from long ago that spark that spirit within to do better, be better, treat others as we, ourselves, would be treated. for we who strain now, even in these dark days, for the tiniest glimpse of that shining city.
here, then, is the tale of king arthur, set to fabulous music (at least some of which you are likely to recognize), with the lead played by the only actor to own the role, richard harris
some prefer the movie by the same name, but this version goes to great lengths to film the actual stage play, so it is almost like sitting in the theater as the masters of their craft create a wonderful experience.

Better than the movie

If you've watched the 1968 movie version and like it, you are nuts!!!
This is what it should have been. The soundtrack in the movie was adjusted to Venessa Redgrave's range.
This actress on this staged play has the range of the original Guenevere, Julie Andrews.
Yes, it is a little grainy as it was shot for HBO in 1982. I had not seen it since but I still remembered it.

Camelot

Richard Harris Meg Bussert Only watched a little. Excellent dvd. Finally found out why Arthur such a wimp about Guenevere. Merlin in this. Arthur still thinks like Wart. Saw Disney Sword in the Stone. Merlin teaching Wart.... he didn't feel like a king. Meg has a gorgeous voice and got excited to think someone would fight over her. Camelot DVD Broadway Play

This was not as good as the Richard Harris Camelot movie with Vanessa Redgrave but it was interesting to see the adaptation to stage. Richard Harris was excellent as usual but a little worn with less vigor than his earlier self. We bought this as a Christmas gift for our 40+ yr old daughter per her request. She remembered seeing it as a child on HBO television and enjoyed it even more than the movie versions.
