The tiny little box that could! I'm in love with this DAC.
This little magic box is a joy to own!
I bought this for my computer-based audio system. After 2 decades I'm moving away from internal sound cards. This is replacing an ASUS Xonar Essence, so there were huge shoes to fill.
I'm happy to say the shoes were filled, and then some. The sound from this DAC is wonderful and clear. I do agree with some reviews that the bass is a little bit thinner than on other DACs I've heard, but it's not a huge difference and I can Eq to compensate. Have I heard better? Yes but only marginally. DAC is a mature technology, so any good implementation should make most owners happy. You've got to be quite determined to squeeze out that last 5 percentile, which gets real expensive real quick.
My hat is off to Cambridge for putting thought into the user experience. It has a relay that delays sound output so there's no POP turning on or turning off. This is huge because my speakers' amplifier is directly connected. I've had more expensive DAC's that don't.
The DacMagic also remembers the last input. Again, I've had more expensive DACs that don't.
Every time I try to replace this little box I wind up appreciating it more. Even when/if I get another mainstay, I will keep the 100 as a backup.
My quest will continue to find a better sounding DAC that checks off all the same user-experience boxes that the baby DacMagic executes so well. I'm worried I might be searching a while. Lire l'avis complet...

A GREAT alternative to an internal soundcard
Received an item that looked new but not in a retail box. Superior option to an internal sound card. Streaming TIDAL, the DAC is connected to a Pioneer D608 receiver with Sonus Faber Concertino speakers. I really like the subdued blue LED lights that are not in-your-face. The sound is incredible with both TIDAL and my 300 FLAC recordings. Highly recommended. After using the Cambridge Dac Magic 100 for over two weeks I am so happy I did not buy the SoundBlaster card. The WIN 10 drivers were easy to install and TIDAL has additional settings for it as well. Excellent product
Excellent product, sounds wonderful, There are so many expensive hifi DACs yet this one delivers for a relatively low price. It's easy to set up and requires only standard cabeling. Great Sound - Solid Quality
Great Sound, Clear, clean, sharp. Simple to set up in a few minutes. Makes MP3 files sound like your playing the original source on a high end Player. Solid, well built unit. Can connect 4 different components. The unit I received looked Brand New, not a mark on it and the same for the accessories. About the size of 1/4 sheet of copy paper and only 1 5/8" high. sonic improvement

DacMagic 100 is an Excellent Value
This DAC performs amazingly well for the money. It's a good value even at the retail price of $199, and for the $139 that I paid for the factory-refurbished unit, it's really a bargain. It was a worthwhile upgrade for my computer audio system, since the DacMagic 100 is audibly superior to the DAC built into my NAD D3020 amplifier. Great little DAC, a terrific value.
Nice DAC with enough inputs to be very useful. Using it in my office system, allows me to add streaming (already had streamer in another room) to my system (an old Marantz 2325), as well as a CD playback, and computer playback.
