Tailgate Lock
It works great, and is easy to install, you can use 1 of 2 screws they give you, a Phillips or a Security Screw.... If you wanted to go use your old bolt, you need to drill out the threaded hole, and drill and tap the new part bigger... but it is not needed.
I suggest you use some grease om the right hand side of the unit where the rod needs to slide over, it makes the latch much easier to open. Also the plastic trim ring is easier to remove than the factory one, so it is a good idea to use a few dots of Panel Adhesive to bond to the truck.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Product But Needed Modification
This product needed some easy modification to allow gate to be opened when unlocked. It could have been due to some wear/looseness on my 2004 Silverado. But after installation it worked great! Looked like a factory option that came with the truck.Lire l'avis complet...

Does not fit/work correctly, does not fit like OEM plastic
Stated that it was like OEM fit, that was not the case. Lock took more than an hour to get on and adjust, and then problems with the way it fits kept causing tailgate to remain locked even if lock was unlocked. Figured out the problem, and adjusted. Works good, however when locked, if enough force is used, tailgate will still unlatch.. Plastic cover did not fit like OEM and stuck out on the sides and the hole for the lock did not match up and had broke the top part of the ring when pressing in the cover. I had to add super double sided sticky foam tape to keep it stuck on.

Functional, ease of installation, and an inexpensive solution
Over the years I have sold thousands of these, installed them on countless trucks, including several of my own personal vehicles. So I thought I would give some real world perspective accumulated from over a decade of on hand experience with these things.
This lock installs in just minutes with simple hand tools There are three bolts holding the factory handle to the bed side tailgate wall. The lower bolt is removed and a provided screw / bolt is used to affix the lock and mounting bracket. The lock works by rotating a blocking arm, with use of the key, to physically stop the butterfly arms from coming inward when the handle is lifted. These arms pull the rods that release the catches on both sides of the tailgate. A bezel with a hole for access to the lock is provided and this replaces the factory bezel. It’s very simple and works perfectly on most trucks. However it should be noted as these trucks age there can be issues with fit and operation. Rarely are tailgate latches lubricated and this over time causes excessive wear on the pivot creating slop where the butterfly arms can travel in side to side. Sometimes this slop will allow the butterfly to ramp past the lock. While a new handle would fix this often simply tweaking (bending the arm a bit with a channel lock) is all that is required to correct the issue. Now in extreme cases we have seen where pulling up with force over time, due to unlubricated mechanisms, the back wall can actually deflect and bend slightly causing the lock and handle to move up a degree or two, this can cause fitment issues with the bezel. Again this is an easy fix with a channel lock bending the lock bracket down flush against its rest, and of course we are always available to help with installation via message or phone. These issues while rare are becoming more common as these trucks age. Currently we see tweaking needed in about 1 of every 100 installs. Still a great record.
A recent reviewer indicated that the lock cylinder simply fell out in 24 hours. In the almost decade and a half of selling and installing these that is a first. The lock is held by a nut that bites into the support from the rear. I suppose it’s possible it could have been lose from the factory, but if it was the lock wouldn’t align to perform its function, and checking that everything is properly tight during installation should be an obvious part of installation but often lack of experience leads to unpleasant outcomes. I did have the opportunity to discuss mentioned mishap with the customer after he left the review. He went locally and purchased another one and it is currently working as it should. I would have gladly sent him a new lock regardless of the issue, but he didn’t contact us for help. He simply threw it away making even a return impossible. We always stand by our products and we are here for your satisfaction. The only other option on the market is a pop lock at three times the price, and it is attached with double sided tape.
For the price and function, there is no better solution for your Silverado / Sierra if you are looking to secure your tailgate. ;)

Needs Some Tweeking
Locking mechanism has a lot of play allowing the tailgate to be opened in the locked position. Some bending of the parts will eliminate the play. The outer trim plate does not fit as well as the original piece did. The upper tabs need some trimming to get them to snap into place more securely. Functional and simple lock for securing the tail gate on my Chevy
This bully tail got lock is pretty simple in design. The lowest bolt from the bed side of the tail gate handle is removed allowing the bully lock to be installed. Once in place, this enables an arm attached to the lock cylinder to swing into position with use of the key to block the arms that pull in the rods connected to the tail gates latches. Its requires a precise fit to function correctly so I can see where some handles that have excessive wear might need some tweaking to work, most of these trucks are over ten years old now. The bezel replaces the factory bezel and has a hole in it to access the lock using the provided keys. Installation took just a few minutes and it works as advertised.
I noticed a recent reviewer mentioned the lock fell out of the mounting plate. It is secured by a friction nut to the mounting plate so if it was lose while being installed it should have been obvious as the lock arm wouldn't engage if it was not in the proper orientation. This isn't my first installation of one of these, I have done more than a few, and while simple enough to install I suppose making sure that everything is tight and proper might escape some installers. Just a thought.

Works great!
The installation was fairly easy to perform. Had to bend a tab on one side of the handle to get it to work correctly. That is no fault of the lock. Make sure to line up key hole with hole in bezel!

Works good but the bezel key hole did not line up with the lock.
Install was ok. It does lock well and work good BUT the key hole on the bezel DOES NOT match up. I had to cut away the key hole to get the bezel to fit tight. 1999 Silverado.

So the product is installed, the directions took a few to figure out , butt he main issue is the plastic bezel is nice heavy duty quality but is doesn’t fit well or snap into factory holes, so to prevent the bezel from falling off I screwed additional screws into the sheet metal.
