This late 70's film is a must see!

In my opinion, Breaking Away is one of the all-time best coming of age films. The main character, Dave, is charming, intense, and sweet (and just a bit whacky). This film deals not only with the changes of growing up and losing your childish illusions, but it also shows how those changes affect your family and friends. Coming of age film

This film hits a lot of the points and does that part well. Some of the encounters between protagonists and antagonists were staged pretty clumsily but I certainly forgive that. One of the main characters was pretty much left without complete development, Daniel Stern, and the concept of a bike rider drafting a truck at 60 MPH was patently absurd. Non bike riders MIGHT believe it possible. Oh, and the idea of a single rider carrying nearly ALL the race and winning was pure ignorance - and Hollywood - but, hey, suspend disbelief and enjoy. Still relevant

One of the few films in American cinema history that deals with the class structure in the US while doing it with fun and with heart. wonderful story about the local underdogs vs. the university big shots.

All time Favourite. When Movies Had Substance.

Awesome movie. Epic time. The movie came out when I was graduating from high School so is exactly my vintage in thinking. So many laughs and land marks.

Definitely worth the every penny...

This is a great coming of age movie with some really great cycling scenes! Dave Stoller’s Masi Gran Criterium bike from the film is AWESOME!
All around a GREAT movie! Highly Recommended!
