Good Product, But Boss Is Dumb

I love the pedal. I find it rather stupid, however, that Boss does not include the inexpensive power adapters with their products. So, go buy the adapter or you'll be replacing the 9V battery constantly. Note - Boss of course states to only use their power adapter. Great pedal for the money. Keeps your signal chain quiet.

I bought this pedal on a whim at a great used price on eBay. I haven't used it much, but the few times I have used it, I was impressed. This is definately a noise "suppressor" and not a noise gate. By that I mean that it does not "clamp down" on the noise so much as it sort of filters it out. I have a rather noisy Squire II Strat and this pedal quiets it down nicely. It feels natural when playing and the "decay" feature allows for a natural tone decay without abruptly cutting the signal off at a hard threshold. Boss pedals are none to somewhat color your tone but if this pedal colors my tone in anyway, I haven't noticed it. A nice bonus is that this pedal has a power out jack which allows you to use it as a power supply for other pedals in you chain. Overall this pedal is a great value especially if you find one used. Great pedal and one of my better ebay purchases!

Boss has been making great pedals for a long time and the Boss Noise Suppressor is no exception. As others have stated, it's best to put this pedal closest to your amp, to get the full benefit. The pedal I purchased works very well. Depending on how you dial it in, it can give some what of a staccato effect to the notes you play, when turned all the way up. Overall I am very happy that I purchased this product as it has drastically cut down the amount of noise coming from my amp and other effects pedals. Wonderful pedal

This is a modded NS-2 courtesy of Alchemy Audio. Magic might be too strong a word for how well this pedal works, but not by much. Its simply amazing; cuts the hiss right out of the sound when the boost, compression and/or OD pedals are engaged. Strongly recommended. The pedal costs $100 and Alchemy charge $50 for the mod; I bought this one for $75, used but who cares. The LED's are very, very bright - might need to put some tinted transparent stuff over them as I have with another Alchemy pedal - no biggie. Amazing value.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome

I know i always say that. This noise gate is a sign from God. It cleaned up my Randall amp and made it sound a million times better. Boss has always been good, and we all drool over chorus, distortion, and other stuff, but without a good noise gate, it just doesn't matter.

It was a little road worn, but the listing said as much. Luckily Boss pedals are road worthy. I would recommend this to anyone. There may be better ones out there, but never at the regular guy price range.Lire l'avis complet...

Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor

I play in a Hardcore/Metalcore band, and I use heavy distortion in my rig, so it was a no-brainer that I needed a noise gate. Though, since I only come about so much money, I needed something that works well and is cheap. The Boss NS-2 gave me both, for the most part. All noise is pretty much taken care of, and I don't hear a loss of tone whatsoever. The only thing I've noticed, at least with this particular one, is that if you have your treble set too high, some high-pitched squeeling will get through.

If you have a noisy setup, this will help a lot.

This pedal is absolutely awesome for cutting down on your noise level when you have multiple pedals hooked up (or just one problem pedal.)

I personally have my metal and overdrive pedals running through this one, but it could be used otherwise.

The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it tends to suck out the volume from your pedals, and when you first play a note or strum a chord when its on, it has a slight "swell" effect before everything is played at full volume.

Overall, the pedal is awesome and once you get over that first swell, the sound is crisp, without the background noise.Lire l'avis complet...

Much needed mods

Not to say the stock version is bad, but this mod takes the original to a studio quality level. When dealing with noisy amps that make it difficult to edit in the recording process this Alchemy Audio mod is the perfect choice. Must for high gain Marshall Amp

This is the pedal to remove noise from a high gain amp. It will reduce feedback from your guitar when the volume is up but are not playing. when the guitar is played the gate opens and your tone is not effected.
