For the Beginner & Professional

Boss is well known for the high quality & durable effects processors and this one leads the pack for me. The compact size and versatility is unmatched for the price. I particularly enjoy the looping effect - so far I have stacked 4 rhythm progressions together and I SOUND AWESOME! It's ease of use and program-ability are also pluses for this compact machine. At my age, I'll never need or want another effects processor. It has the drive engine of the GT100 and cost less than half as well as the size is less than half the size of the GT100. I run it through my Marshall MGX100 half stack and Blackstar HT Club 40 amps and it sounds great through both. In fact, I was so stoked about it that I bought one for son who uses it for his bass guitar during gigs & practice. It runs on four double batteries but power adapter (PSA-120) is not included so you may want to pick one up. This is an awesome machine - Go for it!!Lire l'avis complet...

Very good unit for any level of guitarist.

From bedroom practice to stage show- the GT-1 will deliver the sounds you want. It's simple enough to find sounds for practicing musicians but also easy to get where you need on stage with a minimum of fuss.

Like all these processors most of the factory patches are just extreme examples not meant to be used for real. More like demonstrators of specific effects cranked to 11. But you can modify these very easily to find something you can actually use. You can also plug into a laptop and download other people's patches which are much better than factory.
Dialing in your own sound is easy. Three knobs offer a 'easy button' way to shape sounds and change effects while you can dig much deeper if you are more advanced with the buttons below that.
You can even alter the chain of effects and where they fall like setting up a traditional pedal board.

I got great blues tones, solid OD crunch, and high gain metal notes just by fooling around with preset patches. It's a hobby unto itself just finding great sounds with this unit.
It has a tuner but no drum loops, which is my only real complaint. The display is small on stage, but it's bright and easy to see when it's dark.

Most of the features of more expensive units, small size and sleek design, and lots of amp and cab models along with all the effects you'll ever really need. I bought this because I already use the GT-1B for bass and like that unit a lot too.

GT-1 is just what I needed.

Killer pedal! Very satisfied. I've purchased multiple multi-effects units over the years in this price range, including several late models with recent modeling technologies. Not a complete survey by me of available choices but in my experience none sound as good or operate as easily as this unit - not even close. I researched the $200-400 current model price range, based on new unit street price, not having decided yet of I would buy new or used. Really wanted to stay under $200 so after deciding on GT-1, looked at used.
Reason for deciding on GT-1 was good past experience with Boss on build & recent good experience with Boss modeling on the smallest of the Katana combos. The modeling on that amp is much improved over previous generations. Good tube-like natural sounding compression & guitar player interaction with amp. By interaction I mean how guitar playing normally affects sound of a reasonably good tube amp, ie, pick attack/guitar volume & tone roll-off, type of pu, amp & pedal gain staging, etc. GT-1 has good tube sounds also.

So far I've gone through all presets, tweaking 3 or 4. Presets sound and easy to modify. Ex: if a chorus/swirly or delay effect is too strong then backing it down in the mix is easy. Same ease in tweaking amp models, distortion & compression. Easy Edit mode also good for quick adjustments. Amp models sound good - best judge of this are the low distortion models like Fender and those in blues/ country genres. High distortion preset patches do a pretty good job if controlling noise.
Tested on several combo amps set on clean channel, bass & mid at 5/ treble set at 7: Boogie F30 tube amp, Yamaha GA112, Line 6 Spider IV 30.

Anyway, great purchase for me. Excellent product. The seller was quick and even thought enough about the item to include batteries. Boss doesn't sell this item with batteries so I knew not to expect.

VERY GOOD UNIT

Sounds good, not as warm as real analog gear because...it isn't :) However, you can program some very warm patches and leave your amp at home without fear of having a "lesser" tone in any way. The convenience of programming different controllers makes it a good live tool - I bought also the Roland FS-7 footswitch which adds 2 more foot switches, perfect for controlling different parameters live (OD/DS, AMP, DLY, REV, etc...) - you can program those, as well as the built-in control switch, to turn ANY parameter ON/OFF, change its value, etc... super useful.

All of that and you put if in you guitar case!

Boss GT-1 is a Solid Unit

The GT-1 is a stompbox that you can use straight out of the box, The interface is very intuitive and you won't need a lot of time with the manual if any.

The way you set up the user sounds give quite a bit of range of sounds. The four star rating is mostly for the foot pedal. It is ergonomically in the way of the second button. When performing, I have hit the pedal and lowered the volume inadvertently several times. Not a big deal, but i have to align the box so that does't happen.

I took it to a gig a day after I received it with user preset sounds intact. This unit works well with an acoustic (Breedlove) and a semihollow electric (Epiphone Sheraton).

Great product and really useful software.

Used now for 3 months. The software that allows tweaking and saving and downloading of patches (sounds) is great. I use just for my studio, but looks rugged enough for the road.

Playable right out of the box.

Some good modern patches, some good clean patches, programmable, A lot of patches you won'r ever use, but that's true of any of them.
Looper needs longer play time and a basic rhythm section would be good.Lire l'avis complet...

Amazing tool and PC / Mac interface

It's an amazing tool for learning all about guitar pedal effects. Connect it to a PC or Mac and see the magic happen: Boss software lets you edit any patch in real time. You can also use it as an audio interface with zero latency and record your guitar in Ableton, for instance, monitoring your sound directly from the unit. Worth every dollar and more.Lire l'avis complet...
