Simply his best cd to date!

It's been a couple years since the release of Kid's last cd "Rock N Roll Jesus" but you really can't tell because the style and musical shift that he had undertaken with that effort was built upon and expanded with this new release. With backing artists like Cheryl Crow, Bob Seger, Martina McBride & Zac Brown helping out with the recording, this latest Kid Rock release is outstanding! Kind of a blend of folk storytelling, and his rock n roll style, this is easily my favorite by Kid who is an artist that just keeps getting better with age with every cd he's made getting better and better as he goes. The title track "Born Free" could easily be replacing Bob Seger's song "Like A Rock" on a future Chevrolet truck commercial, it has the same gritty, salt of the earth, down home proud to be an American feel to it. The duet with Cheryl Crow continues and builds on the past success of their duet "Picture" with a new, and just as good song called "Collide", hard to make a song like this any better but Kid also got the legendary Bob Seger to play piano on this great ballad (and its my personal favorite song on this cd). Other killer storytelling songs like: "Flyin' High" (with Zac Brown) & "Slow My Roll" just add layers to this new cd and as it plays you'd swear with each song you like it even better than the last one that played. It's just that kind of music, it flows, has a wonderful feel, and takes you down a storytelling road on a journey that may continue over and over, because if you like it as much as I do your gonna leave the cd in the player for a while and let it play over and over a few more times....yep, it's really that good! Mellow and Reflective

I have been a Kid Rock fan for a very long time and this album might be the final destination in his transition from rock rapper to country southern rocker. If you have some of his other albums ther is usually a ballady type song on ther such as Picture, Roll On etc but this album is totally in that vibe. I didn't instantly like it as much as Rock n Roll Jesus or Kid Rock albums but it has definitely grown on me. The track Born Free is class and the songs Rock On and When It Rains have really good lyrics about difficult times. I understand that some people dislike Kid Rock and do not like the fact that he has previously drawn strongly on influences such as Skynyrd in major hits but I couldn't really identify a loop in this album that was immediately recognisable as something else. A lot of covers and loops appear in songs nowadays I can guarantee that the majority of artists have never heard the songs before their record companies tell them that is what they are going to be releasing next but I am sure Kid Rock has lived and breathed the influences that he pays homage to. I payed the extra to get the DVD bonus version which is basically Kid Rock and Rick Rubin talking about the CD track by track and is definitely worth an extra couple of $ if you like that kind of thing.Lire l'avis complet...

Kid Rock offers something for our Homeland

This new CD offers another perspective of Kid Rocks talent and he successfully crosses genres. His musical career reflects his imagination. For me, this cd motivates me to also be imaginative for the sake of my own happiness and success. He is a true musical artist as this cd paints a picture in several different ways about the life, love, and feelings of the common man living in the USA. Everyone can relate to the lyrics at some level. From being born free, to caring for the world tho' feeling unable to make a difference, to driving into our beautiful purple skies to realizing our true treasure exists in our relationships with friends, family and humanity in general. I LOVE IT! EVERY SONG IS GREAT! I PLAY IT IN MY CAR EVERY DAY. IT'S SOULFUL, SMOOTH SOUND AND VERY EASY TO LISTEN TO. I HAVE BECOME A KID ROCK FAN WITH HIS LAST TWO CDS. THE COUNTRY CROSSOVER SOUND MIX IS JUST EASY LISTENING MUSIC. KID ROCK AND SHERYL CROWE GOT MY ATTENTION WITH "THE PICTURE" AND KID ROCK WITH ZAK BROWN AND MARTINA MCBRIDE ARE EQUALLY AS GOOD.
